Kickstart your Christmas creativity with my November mood board. There’s enough inspiration on this board to help you create all kinds of projects, and I used it as my starting point for several Stampin’ Up!® projects using Grassy Grove, the Christmas Classics bundle and Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper.
But first, how to use a mood board. It’s simple: just take inspiration from any or some of the photos and colours.
In this board, the colours are Soft Sea Foam, Lost Lagoon, Pecan Pie, Crumb Cake and Lemon Lolly.
There are no hard and fast rules so you can add extra colours, use the nearest you have, or ignore the colours and simply be inspired by one or more of the images.
My mood board inspiration began with this Grassy Grove card. I used the colours of the grassy image in the top left of the mood board, inverting it so the Soft Sea Foam is at the top and Lost Lagoon is at the bottom.
I was inspired to use Grassy Grove by the deer hiding in this Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper. However, this piece of paper was grey and I really don't like grey, so I took some ink to it and turned it Soft Sea Foam at the top, and Lost Lagoon at the bottom. To add more atmosphere, I flicked some water at it to create some splashes.
I used Crumb Cake for the deer and Lost Lagoon for the extra foliage, and finished off with a stamped label and some linen thread. Where would we be without linen thread?
My next creations strayed away from the mood board but that was ok because it had done its job and got me moving.
This Peace on Earth card uses Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper as its background, with a beautiful blue frame made from Countryside Corners.
This watercolour-style blue design is actually on the reverse of this gorgeous winter floral paper.
I stamped Peace on Earth and the winter foliage in Lost Lagoon and Blueberry Bushel using the Christmas Classics stamp set. It’s finished off with some Lost Lagoon ribbon and yes, of course, some linen thread.
I used some more of this stunning Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper to make a mini cracker using the Cracker and Treat Box dies from Stampin’ Up!®
These make very cute little crackers which are just big enough to hold a lipsalve or, in my case, three chocolate balls (chocolate football sized – there are loads available at this time of year, sometimes sold as chocolate Brussels sprouts. Mine are blue, gold and green and came from Lidl).
The crackers are five-sided, which is makes them a little different, although you could make a four-sided cracker with the same die too. They even still hold the chocolate balls - I tried it.
Finally, waste not, want not: this card is made using the little diamonds popped out from the cracker. Lined up against a ruler, they make an interesting border on a simple Christmas card.
I finished off with some die-cut foliage using the Christmas Classics dies, and some Lost Lagoon ribbon.
