Blooms & Wishes gift pack for a special silver celebration

I am very proud of my team member, Sue, who has just promoted to Silver! I may not be Sue’s direct upline but I’ve pledged to be better at celebrating my team members’ achievements so popped a little packet of Rhinestones in the post for her, with a matching card.

I used flowers – because Sue LOVES flowers – and a splash of silver to mark the occasion.

In Color sneak peek - with Blooms and Wishes

Aren’t these new colours gorgeous? I’ve used Lemon Lime Twist (my favourite!) with Fresh Fig, Tranquil Tide and, from the current In Color collection, Sweet Sugarplum. And I think they all go together beautifully on this card, which I CASEd from Caroline Wright.

I can’t wait to start using these colours in earnest – my big box of goodies has finally arrived so I can get stuck in at last, with a sneak peek stamp set coming this way on Monday!

Celebrations Duo embossing folder with Blooms & Wishes

I was delighted to see that some of my team members had promoted to Silver, so created these pretty cards - with a hint of silver glimmer paper - to mark the occasion. I used Blooms & Wishes combined with the fab new debossing folders, Celebrations Duo (p40, Spring/Summer catalogue). These are really fun as they work in the opposite way to our usual embossing folders, which allows you to stamp on top and around the image.

For the perfect sentiment, ”so proud of you”, I used Marquee Messages. Finally, a touch of bling!

Northern Lights Mountain Adventure with a llama

Fed up of llamas yet? I will NEVER be fed up of llamas, and will take every opportunity to use this stamp until it retires.

Here I’ve given him a snowy backdrop again, the results of last Crafty Friday where we experimented with the Northern Lights technique. It’s a simple sponging technique and this one was originally rejected as “too stripey”, so I tried to salvage it with more ink before rejecting it again as too dark. However, once it had dried, it was a little lighter and I wondered if I could claw something back from the wreckage.

So I splashed some clean water over the top, left them for a few seconds, then dabbed them dry with a tissue. It gave me this lovely snowy effect, just right for a llama, who is positioned very carefully to cover the damaged cardstock, where I’d used the adhesive remover too early. Yes, it was one of those mornings...

Mix It Up Monday: Blooms and Wishes

This is quite an autumnal colour scheme for July, but it’s always good to plan ahead. I’m not normally a huge fan of orange but I do like it combined here with the sobering influences of Dapper Denim and Soft Suede. Yes it’s Mix It Up Monday again and time for another project made with a colour combination from my latest set of In Color charts. 

I wanted to have another play with Blooms & Wishes and, while creating this card, I realised it would be perfect for one-sheet wonder projects, too. Here I’ve just stamped a quarter of a sheet of cardstock to create my busy background, then topped it with a simple greeting. Fun to do and, by ‘stamping off’ onto scrap paper first, you can get several shades from the same ink pad.

Blooms & Wishes with sweet Sweet Sugarplum

We in the UK have woken up to news that will either delight or devastate, depending on which way you voted in the European referendum. Whatever your thoughts on the outcome, the deed is now done. And while the future is uncertain, some things in life will not change. It will still rain on Bank Holidays (although the sun is shining for now), cats are still delightful (although come back tomorrow for a counter-argument) and stamping will still act as a great uniter of nations (no argument there).

So here’s some stamping to make your day brighter/even brighter* using a new stamp set, the name of which I cannot get to stick in my brain. Blooms & Wishes, that’s it. There are a few of these washy, painterly floral sets in the catalogue and it took me a while to choose between them. In the end I decided that this one would be the most useful to me and it turns out to be the most popular, among my stamping team at least. 

I absolutely loved the colour combination on the samples in the catalogue (page 139), which probably influenced my decision somewhat. As you’ve probably guessed, I have now come round to Sweet Sugarplum, which is my favourite of the new In Colors. I decided to emulate the catalogue colour combo here, with a slight change of green (SU used Mint Macaron) and addition of Crumb Cake to dirty it up a bit. Hope you like it!
