Three amazing card ideas for Wildflower Designs and Elements of Text

Sometimes you see two Stampin’ Up!® products which are just meant to go together - even if they aren’t advertised as such.

One is a bundle you may have overlooked – Wildflower Designs (163334) – while the other is an Online Exclusive called Elements of Text (164774).

I used these wonderful Stampin’ Up!® stamp sets in a class last week to make two cards in very different colour themes. Then I came home and pulled both stamp sets out again to make a very special birthday card for an incredible lady.

Let’s take a closer look at these Wildflower Designs and Elements of Text cards.

This is a lovely design which could be simplified to make a one-layer card if you wish. We used the retired Stamparatus for perfect positioning of the three main images on the Very Vanilla layer.

The big circle of text from Elements of Text is stamped in Basic Beige, while the large allium head is stamped in Boho Blue and the smaller one in Petunia Pop.

This gentle colour combination is a mix of old and new with Boho Blue and the Pebbled Path of the card base both retiring soon, while Petunia Pop and Basic Beige were only introduced to the Stampin’ Up!® colour collection last year.

To avoid bulk, and to make the ribbon supply stretch further, we just used a single strip of Petunia Pop ribbon (163785) across the front of the card, then added a bow of cream baker’s twine (155475).

The greeting is stamped on Fresh Freesia cardstock which is trimmed with the Happy Labels Pick a Punch (160693); an easy way to add interest or make labels of any length.

An extra piece of twine was tied around the label to bring it all together and, finally, I lined the inside of the card to make it easier to write on, as Pebbled Path is quite a dark colour.

My second card uses another retiring Stampin’ Up!® In Color™ – yes I’m trying to use them up! – called Copper Clay. This is a rich warm colour and, with the addition of Blueberry Bushel, works perfectly for masculine cards.

But I chose to make this one a little more feminine with the addition of some gold vellum leaves and shiny copper ribbon.

The bottom section of the card front is covered with Take to the Sky Designer Series Paper (163436). This is an aeroplane-themed pack but the reverse, as always, has generic designs which can be used for many other projects.

I used the largest die from Wildlflower Designs to cut the Blueberry Bushel border; this creates the centre shape at the same time, so I cut again in Very Vanilla. Expect to see cards with a Blueberry Bushel panel and Very Vanilla border in the future!

On the Very Vanilla panel I stamped using Elements of Text in Basic Beige again, then stamped a greeting from a really useful set called Keeping Tabs (163533) in Copper Clay.

I stamped the allium flower in Blueberry Bushel and die-cut the shape, which I then layered on top of the greeting panel and border with some vellum leaves created with the bough punch (157711). The vellum is retired but I found a single sheet in my stash and thought the class would be a good place to use it up. The front is finished off with some retired copper ribbon.

Inside, I lined the card to make any messages show up, stamping with a retired greeting, and another flower from the Wildflower Designs stamp set.

Finally I have a fancy fold card which I made by loosely following this tutorial by Tami White

Disclaimer: I’m not very good at following tutorials and can’t concentrate long enough for a video so I basically took the measurements, converted them to metric and A4 cardstock and then winged it. Which is probably why I have a gap down the middle of my card.

This is a very special card for a lady who is turning 100 this week. Experience tells me that older ladies love Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather, so I used some Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper (162593) to decorate the main body of the card, then used the same colours with Wildflower Designs to decorate the pop-out section.

I used Alphabet a la Mode dies (160750) to create the 100, and Simply Said (163756) for “TH” and “Birthday”. To get just the TH, I inked up the first part of “Thank you” using a black marker. You can also use any stamp which says Birthday to get the same letters, but the end of the stamp is easier to position.

The white panels are all stamped using Wildflower Designs and Elements of Text, in Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather, Fresh Freesia, Soft Sea Foam, and Shaded Spruce.

On the left of the pull-out section I used a tab made with the Keeping Tabs Punch bundle (163540). This is also available as a die bundle (163543).
