Three card ideas using the Truckin’ Along bundle

I had a fun time creating with this stamps and punch bundle over the weekend and made three fun Truckin’ Along cards all, it has to be said, heavily inspired by Stampin’ Up!’s Artisan Design Team.

I loved how Dutch demonstrator Monique de Kok made heavy use of my favourite new In Color Wild Wheat in her projects so was determined to use it in my own. In fact, I made my own colour combination to work from, creating this graphic to share on social media.

Working with this colour combination of Wild Wheat, Crushed Curry, Sweet Sorbet and Cherry Cobbler, I created three very different projects. 

 

 

My first card was inspired by Monique’s Christmas card but honestly, I’m not ready for Christmas cards yet, so I decided to send my recipient some sunny thoughts.

The truck is transporting a beach ball and surf board, with a palm tree in the background. I thought this went well with the sunny shade of Crushed Curry. 

 

Truckin’ Along is a two-step stamp set so I stamped the outline image in black, then added the Crushed Curry body with a second stamp. I used a third stamp in black to stamp the tyres. This is popped up on the white square layer.

I carefully masked the long stamp to ink up the two halves of the sentiment separately. I’m considering cutting the stamp up but didn’t take the plunge just yet.

 

The paper is another Online Exclusive called One Horse Open Sleigh which is absolutely gorgeous. It features beautiful snowy scenes which are perfect for Christmas... but the reverse sides are lovely natural patterns like this woodgrain pattern. Regular readers will know I'm a sucker for woodgrain.

I overlaid the woodgrain onto some of the red paper from the same pack. Okay it’s Real Red but I don’t think it matters; after all, I created the colour combo so I can break the rules!

I stamped trucks in Crushed Curry on the bottom half of my Crushed Curry layer, then mounted it on to Cherry Cobbler.

Some Wild Wheat ribbon is wrapped around the main layer, with a bow created from some Wild Wheat jute trim. I find this trim is a little chunky for some projects but if you untwist it and separate the strands, not only do you get three times as much trim, it is lovely and crinkly.

It’s all mounted on a Wild Wheat card base to bring it all together. 

 

 

I used a Wild Wheat card base for my second card, too, which features a series of trucks, all stamped in my four core colours. This card was inspired by US demonstrator Charlet Mallet, who stamped directly onto the Designer Series Paper for her card.

As I was using the woodgrain paper from the One Horse Open Sleigh 6"x6" Designer Series Paper pack again, which I thought may be a little strong, I decided to stamp my Truckin’ Along trucks and punch them out instead, creating two of each colour from my initial colour combo. 

 

 

All the trucks are stuck flat to the paper apart from the one transporting the flowers. These little sunflowers are a fun addition to the set and even this is a two-step stamp, so I could stamp the Crushed Curry flowers separately. 

 

For the grungy Special Delivery label, I used the stamp from the set that features lines to place under a truck and stamped it repeated in Wild Wheat, without reinking, to create this unique effect.

Again, it’s finished off with just one strand of Wild Wheat jute trim, tied in a bow.

 

Finally, I made a really quick and easy Simple Stamping project, using the tree from the set as my main image.

I expect the cloud image is another load to add to the back of the truck, as it fits perfectly, but I thought it would be fun to show a different usage. 

 

I stamped the flowers repeatedly to form a carpet for the tree, and added this lovely greeting, “Every Day is a Fresh Start” to finish off. For a change – and because I picked up a big bundle of square envelopes in the Oxfam shop for 50p –  I made this into a square card. No embellishments, no ribbon. Just keeping it #simplestamping.
