Bird’s Eye View card idea

Stampin Up Bird's Eye View

It’s time for another Stampin’ Up!® project based on a mood board, this time using the Bird’s Eye View stamp set.

I love a Mood Board challenge as it gives you SO much room for manoeuvre. For instance, taking inspiration from this July mood board you could create a project on the theme of travel, birds, butterflies, seashells and much more.

You could use it as a colour challenge and create a project using any or all of the Stampin’ Up!® colours Melon Mambo, Azure Afternoon, Pumpkin Pie, Parakeet Party and Lemon Lime Twist.

For my Bird’s Eye View project, I took inspiration from the bird in the top left for the overall theme, then designed my card based on the striped flip-flops in the centre image.

The result is this very silly but fun slimline bird card.

Using Brights 6x6" Designer Series Paper, I abandoned the idea of stripes, but mimicked the colours of the flip-flops, creating two Pumpkin Pie birds, two Melon Mambo birds and two in Lemon Lime Twist.

I made the birds using the paper piecing technique, so I stamped each bird on white cardstock first, then again on scraps of Designer Series Paper. I cut out each element – wing, body, head etc – from the DSP then stuck it onto the white stamped image.

The glasses were a little trickier but as they are one of my favourite features of the Bird’s Eye View stamp set, I couldn’t leave them out. I stamped those on white and then very, very carefully cut them out to stick on top.

I stamped the branches on Crumb Cake cardstock and cut them out closely, before adding a little extra colour for depth using a Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend alcohol marker.

As you can see, I echoed the sky of the centre photo with an Azure Afternoon background and some punched clouds.

There are no sentiments in the Bird’s Eye View stamp set so I stamped Sending You a Happy Birthday using Circle Sayings; I love how the arc fits over the punched cloud perfectly.

I hope you like my Bird’s Eye View card and are inspired to have a go at creating a project using the July Mood Board. There are so many options from this mood board, so give it a go!
