Mix It Up Monday: Peekaboo Peach with Stitched Framelits Dies

I messed up a bit for this one. After glancing at this colour combination from my latest set of In Color Charts for Mix It Up Monday, I went off to make my projects – and it was only when I came to create the combination image below that I realised I should have used Very Vanilla and not Whisper White. Too late now, but if you’re having a go at this combo, feel free to use whichever one you have to hand.  

Those who know me will appreciate how difficult I found this combination. I confess that Pêche Fraiche (still can’t bring myself to say Peekab... nope, not going to happen!) is not a favourite of mine and the Brights are my least-used collection. But when a Virtual Hostess Club member has a birthday and states that her favourites are brights, I do my best to please.

I was quite happy with the gift bag, then realised I had to use the combo again to make a matching card, which is where it all went a bit wrong. I’m not a fan of this card at all – looking at it now, I can see that it needs some Melon Mambo flowers – but hopefully the recipient will be of the view that it’ s the thought that counts. 

The words come from an upcoming stamp set that you will be able to order in January. I’m not a big believer in showing you things you can’t order until several weeks later but this set, Birthday Bright, just happened to be to hand (we were given it at OnStage in Telford) and I do love the great big greetings. I’ve used them with the new Stitched Framelits Dies which I absolutely love; they are a great addition to your dies collection and available now, ahead of next summer’s new catalogue.

Mix It Up Monday: Sprinkles of Life

It’s Mix It Up Monday and time for another colour combination from my In Color charts.  

I cannot tell you how much I dislike this card. I dislike it so much that I was going to mount it on a white card base but decided it would be a waste of cardstock. For the cupcake base and candles, I used a Project Life card, thinking the stripes would show up but they don’t. I particularly don’t like the colour combo because I don’t think So Saffron goes with Daffodil Delight… I’m not a fan of the Daffodil Delight background either.  Still, it’s not as bad as the first version! And at least it ticks off my final Cucumber Crush combination, which takes me another step closer to completing my self-imposed challenge. 

I’m also getting a bit restless because the retiring list is due to be released later on today, plus demonstrators will soon get to see the new catalogue – and I for one, can’t wait to see it!

Mix It Up Monday: Sprinkles of Life with Wildflower Fields Sale-a-Bration DSP

It’s Mix It Up Monday (just!) and time for another colour combination from my In Color charts. 

Just lately, I’ve been having lots of fun with this Designer Series Paper, which is free during Sale-a-Bration with a £45 order. I loved the Lost Lagoon raindrops so decided to design my project around it, choosing a colour combination to fit. 

I know a lot of people for whom the saying “it never rains but it pours” is particularly pertinent at the moment so I thought the clouds were perfect… but I added a couple of silver linings in the form of this silver thread and the wonderful Wink of Stella glitter brush on the clouds themselves. Some flowers added a final optimistic touch and some much-needed Watermelon Wonder, to fulfil the requirements of the colour combo.

A Little Thanks with Sprinkles of Life

It’s been an extremely hectic week and I’m exhausted. I won’t bore you with details but part of the dashing around has been in preparation for Peak 2015… and I’m not even going! What’s Peak 2015? This is a huge Scout/Guide camp which takes place at Chatsworth (US readers may recognise this as a location for various period film dramas, such as Pride & Prejudice, Jane Eyre and The Duchess). There are thousands of Scouts, Guides, Explorers, Brownies, Cubs and Beavers attending, and it’s a massive undertaking. We visited the site last night so our son could help put up tents and it’s very impressive, almost a mile long with all the amenities of a small town. It’s an international camp, too; some friends of ours are hosting US Scouts in the run-up to the event, and we saw a minibus of German Scouts arrive last night. 

A lot of my customers are going as leaders - even two of my younger stamping friends will be working, like my son, for half the week as Explorers - and I hope you all have a fantastic time. But also please know that your efforts are appreciated! Thank you!

More thanks along the way, with this little batch of cards, which I made for my new Virtual Hostess Club members, on arrival of their first order. Credit must go to my Mum, who did some of the colouring for me! (If you knew her, you’d know how remarkable it is that she was actually crafting!)
