All-Day Craftathon - Dragonfly Dreams workshop

The final workshop of my All-Day Craftathon featured the Dragonfly Dreams bundle, again with the gorgeous Succulent Garden DSP.

We made two cards, presented in this really simple pouch. It’s really simple because the bag is already made for you (Glassine Gift Bags, p176); all we needed to do was add this belly band and embellish it with a Bermuda Bay dragonfly.

This card is another of my favourite projects from the day. It’s really clean and simple and combines some subtle spatters from Gorgeous Grunge, with a debossing effect using the Softly Falling embossing folder (not just for Christmas!).

The dragonfly is coloured by inking the wings stamp with Mint Macaron, then gently tapping the ends into Bermuda Bay before stamping. Alternatively, you could use sponges for a more blended effect. A hint of Bermuda Bay glimmer paper from the Sale-a-Bration second release adds a touch of bling.

There’s more bling on the final project, which features more dragonflies. This time we cut the top dragonfly away carefully with scissors, and added it to the Window Shopping greeting.

And then we were done – without going over schedule, too! Thank you to everyone who helped or came along on the day. I’ve had some really positive feedback about the day, so I’ll be looking to hold another in a few months’ time. Watch this space!

All-Day Craftathon - Hey Chick workshop

The second workshop of my All-Day Craftathon featured projects made with the Sale-a-Bration set, Hey Chick. This is by far the most popular set from the SAB brochure this year and has proved hugely popular with my regular customers. 

We made three projects: this cute egg box, which we filled with a choice of raffia or coloured tissue (Home Bargains) and Easter treats.

It’s sealed with some more Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper, another piece of that gorgeous new SAB Glimmer Paper and a label created with the Window Box bundle. 

This card was the next project and I think it’s my favourite project from the whole day. The Window Shopping stamp set gets another outing, as does the Succulent Garden DSP. A 1" (2.5cm) strip was cut from the front of the Old Olive card base, to be used in the next project...

... can you see it? It’s just below the main panel. And who would’ve thought this stripey paper came from the same Succulent Garden pack?

All-Day Craftathon: Window Shopping workshop

I thought I’d skip Mix It Up Monday this week in favour of showing you what we made at the All-Day Craftathon at the weekend. The day was split into three classes, beginning with this one featuring the Window Shopping Bundle.

All the guests received the Window Shopping stamp set in their kit, which is tremendously versatile; in fact we used it in every class throughout the day. 

We began by making this fun box. It’s a slight variation on the hexagon box as it opens at the side, Pac-Man style...

You do this by cutting and reassembling the box pieces as shown below, then joining the two halves together at the side. You can download a tutorial here. 

Three tags go inside, using a tiny strip of the gorgeous Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper, which featured in all three workshops throughout the day.

And there’s a matching card, too. This is made simply by sponging colour onto the front of the card base, then overlaying the die-cut piece. Simple but effective.

This completed our morning activities, so we paused for a buffet lunch before moving on to the second class, which I’ll show you tomorrow...

Little Thank You boxes with Kinda Eclectic butterfly

I have just one more thing to show you from my All-Day Craftathon, and that’s this little box. Everybody received one of these at their table, to thank them for giving up a day to spend with me. Inside is one of my favourite things: a Lindor chocolate (the red ones), so it was quite a wrench to give them away! Fortunately there was a spare which I gave to myself to thank me for making all these little boxes - as you probably know, I don’t like making projects in bulk!

It’s a very simple box, pinched at the top and stapled to keep it closed. The tiny peg wouldn’t be strong enough, that’s just for show!

All-Day Craftathon: Calendar Card Album

This was voted the favourite project at my All-Day Craftathon. But it was quite fiddly to make, especially with so many people and so many different coloured ink pads. 

The project is a calendar card album. Inside the chipboard covers there are 12 paper bags, with a blank calendar on the front of each one, for each month of the year. Fill in the calendar with people’s birthdays, then pop a card into the bag so that you have one ready when the time comes. 

It closes with a piece of baker’s twine wrapped around a circle on the back, so that the cards don’t fall out of the pockets. 

The trees represent the four seasons of the year, which is why they use so many different inks. I used the new Chalk ink for the spring blossom, as this ink sits on top of the cardstock without soaking in and muddying the colours. I couldn’t stamp on white because the snow wouldn’t show up!
