Sneak peek: three ideas using Beautiful Gallery Designer Series Paper

Stampin Up card ideas Beautiful Gallery

When I first saw the Beautiful Gallery Suite from Stampin’ Up!®, my first thought was “Finally some grungy Designer Series Paper in dark, moody colours!”

While I love all the bright and pretty designs in the current (and upcoming) Stampin’ Up!® catalogue, I do sometimes long for something a bit murkier. And Beautiful Gallery Designer Series Paper fits the bill perfectly, with designs based on old paintings and artistic details. You’ll find full 6"x6" sheets with a self-contained design, as well as old-world patterns and some painterly effects too.

Over the Easter holiday I was short of time and inspiration so turned to THREE tried and tested card designs so I could give them a new spin using Beautiful Gallery Designer Series Paper.

I teamed up the new with the old, using the Everyday Greetings stamp set (165084) which is currently half price and now just £10 on the Last Chance List. I strongly urge you to get it while you can.

First up in my quick and easy cardmaking session was this simple design using just under a quarter of a sheet of Beautiful Gallery Designer Series Paper. This is one of those self-contained design sheets which would work well as part of a larger scrapbook page, or as a 6"x6" card front. I chose to cut it up and focus just on a couple of flower heads as the focal point of my card.

I used a strip of a paint-effect sheet on my Basic Beige card base and topped it off with another strip of Designer Series Paper stamped with Thinking of You. Because you can never have too many Thinking of You cards, unfortunately.

My second card uses three strips of Beautiful Gallery Designer Series Paper, all with the common thread of the new Stampin’ Up!® In Color™ Cloud Cover. This gorgeous colour is a bluey grey, or a grey-like blue, depending on how you look at things.

I layered three strips of coordinating Designer Series Paper on a piece of Secret Sea cardstock. This is another new Stampin’ Up!® In Color™; a deep dark blue which is almost grey, almost teal, almost black. Very moody and perfect with this Beautiful Gallery Designer Series Paper.

I stamped a Thinking of You greeting but, because I was feeling lazy, I couldn’t be bothered to cut it out using dies. Instead, I fussy cut around the words, then layered the white cardstock onto some Secret Sea and fussy cut around that, too, to create a border.

I stuck this on top of a scrap of white ribbon, then mounted the whole thing onto some Cloud Cover cardstock.

My third and final card using Beautiful Gallery Designer Series Paper, gives you a glimpse of a few more of the pretty designs in the pack. I cut four strips of paper with small designs and arranged them on some Secret Sea cardstock.

I used a design which looks like a paint effect in Cloud Cover to create a base layer on the Cloud Cover card base.

I used a punched greeting, stamped using Everyday Greetings, and some retired Copper Clay ribbon. To finish off, I tied a bow around the ribbon using some retiring In Color™ Jute Trim (161637).
