There are new Stampin’ Up!® products coming your way in May... and they are NOT all in the new Annual Catalogue!
For this latest Stampin’ Up!® release, many of my favourite products – like this Cheers & Sips bundle – are in the Online Exclusives. And so, for the first time ever, I will be using an Online Exclusives bundle and coordinating Designer Series Paper at my Summer Craft Day here in Derbyshire.
I was crafting with this gorgeous new stamp and die set at the weekend, and made three pretty projects to give you a sneak peek of what’s to come.
Yes I said coordinating Designer Series Paper and yes it’s gorgeous but no I can’t show it to you right now. You know that feeling when you’re rooting through the Stampin’ Up!® box looking for the missing item, only to check your order and realise you never ordered it in the first place? Yep, that’s me. More often than it should be, to be honest.
However, I discovered that Full of Life Designer Series Paper (163357) went perfectly with the colours I used for my pretty cocktails, so used that instead.
But first I created my images. The Celebratory Sips Designer Series Paper which is currently winging its way to me from Germany features lots of watercolour-style images of drinks which fit the Cheers & Sips dies perfectly. I wanted to recreate this gentle look so used watercolour paper inks. I love the no-line effect of one of the website samples (which you will be able to see from 6th May) so recreated this by die-cutting my drinking glasses first, then painting the drinks inside the line. The impression created by the die leaves a handy little ledge so you can paint up to this with ease.
For my first Cheers & Sips card, I used Berry Burst and Daffodil Delight to paint my drinks. You can do this by squeezing your ink pads to create a pool of ink in the lid. Tip: If you have the latest ink pads, turn them upside down before squeezing as it makes it easier.
Some people struggle to squeeze, or don’t like the mess it creates. And when you’re adding water you must dry it thoroughly before closing the pad to avoid diluting the ink, so it’s not the most economical method. In any of these cases, I suggest pressing your ink pad on to a clear stamping block instead. This makes a handy palette which you can top up as required, and simply rinses away afterwards.
Inside my drinks I stamped little berries and a slice of lemon. I arranged these on Very Vanilla cardstock with some sprigs of lavender and rosemary, along with more lemons and some leaves.
This is mounted onto Petunia Pop and then Berry Burst cardstock; two Stampin’ Up!® colours which are made to go together.
I covered the whole card front with a piece of Full of Life Designer Series Paper. This is a look I really like but it was also useful in this case as I found a Thick Basic White card base which had some ink smeared across the front. Waste not, want not!
Inside the card I used a leftover strip of Full of Life Designer Series Paper and stamped “Cheers” and a little berry to finish it off.
My second Cheers & Sips card also starts with a full card cover of Full of Life Designer Series Paper. I arranged three drinks on the front – this time coloured in Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight and a much paler wash of Berry Burst.
Once again I arranged various leaves and fruits in and around the classes, sticking everything flat against the card apart from the front glass and strawberry.
Finally I stamped “Cheers” in Shaded Spruce, which is one of the colours of this Designer Series Paper.
For my third and final Cheers & Sips card, I used some more drinks, this time coloured in Pumpkin Pie and Granny Apple Green.
I wanted to tone down the colours for this one, so mounted the Very Vanilla panel on Basic Black, and used some other products from my stash to give it a more rustic feel.
I hope you like my Cheers & Sips cards and are tempted to add this fun bundle to your Stampin’ Up!® collection when it’s launched in May.
And if you live close enough I would love to welcome you to my Summer Craft Day here in Derbyshire.
