As soon as I saw the Storybook Garden Patch stamp set in the new Stampin’ Up!® Mini Catalogue, I knew my gardening customers would love it.
Storybook Garden Patch has a great selection of vegetable images, flower pots, a trug and some gardening tools. Worried about fussy-cutting? Worry no more as there are coordinating dies to take the strain.
With the arrival of two great-nieces and a great-nephew, a rich seam of lovely photos has awakened my scrapbooking mojo. I love this photo and have been wanting to scrapbook it for ages.
To create a scrapbook page and card, I began by stamping each Storybook Garden Patch image three or four times in Memento ink Tuxedo Black, then coloured them all using Stampin’ Blends. When colouring with Stampin’ Blends or any alcohol markers, it’s important to use a water-based ink such as Memento or any Stampin’ Up!® Classic Stampin’ Pad. If you use a permanent ink with alcohol markers, the black outline will run into your lovely colouring.
It was very relaxing sitting colouring what was almost a whole sheet of Storybook Garden Patch images, and I knew it would give me a great start for my scrapbook page and card, and maybe even some spares for future Stampin’ Up!® projects.
To make this fun scrapbook page, I began with a sheet of Basic White 12" x 12" cardstock from my stash. You cannot go wrong with a white background for your scrapbook pages, as it will really make your images pop.
To get the circle of Storybook Garden Patch images, I didn’t want to draw a pencil line as I always end up creasing the page when rubbing out, so I positioned my photo then simply placed a plate on my page and arranged the elements around it.
I picked each one up, one by one, and added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back before securing it in position.
The next step was to mat the photo, which I did using Blackberry Bliss cardstock and a piece of Bloom Impressions 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (164944), which is one of this year’s Sale-a-Bration offerings. I chose this for the lovely purples which I picked up in the beetroot images.
The words are stamped using a stamp from the By Your Side cardmaking kit (163876) from Stampin’ Up!® I always keep the stamp sets from my kits as you never know when they will come in handy. This is stamped in Blackberry Bliss on Highland Heather cardstock, matted onto Blackberry Bliss cardstock.
Finally, I drew some lines using a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker, so the story and date can be filled in later.
For my Storybook Garden Patch card, I used some of the remaining images to create a little scene on the card front, popping up the top cabbage and the beetroot to add dimension.
Down the left of the card, I used a strip of Bloom Impressions Designer Series Paper mounted onto a narrow strip of Blackberry Bliss cardstock.
Around the card, I wrapped some Natural Tones Linen Thread (164071) in Garden Green, which I tied through a little greeting tag. The sentiment comes from the Keeping Tabs stamp set (163533).
I hope you like my Storybook Garden Patch projects and are inspired to add this lovely stamp set to your craft stash. It’s part of the much bigger Storybook Moments Suite Collection which features some beautiful animal images and two different Designer Series Paper packs, one with gorgeous die-cut images.
But there’s more! In the new Scrapbooking Brochure there is the Storybook Life Scrapbooking Workshop Kit featuring step-by-step instructions to make three double-page spreads, plus a great stamp set for creating titles for your pages, and more Two-Tone cardstock to build up your collection. It’s a great time to get (back?) into scrapbooking!
