It’s the final blog post of 2024, but I’m looking ahead to a fabulous new Stampin’ Up!® stamp set – Friendly Seagulls – which is released in a few days.
I have three great card ideas using this fun new stamp set, which I hope will be going right to the top of your Stampin’ Up!® wish list.
Friendly Seagulls is my favourite Sale-a-Bration product for 2025 – and I am going to stick my neck out and take a little of the credit for this fab stamp set!
A few years ago, Stampin’ Up!® asked us what images would represent our countries. I said “a seagull stealing your chips”. I thought it would be fun, funny and great for scrapbooking.
Fast-forward to Sale-a-Bration 2025 and what do I see in the new brochure but the Friendly Seagulls stamp set with three cute seagulls... one with a beak full of chips.
Plus – great news for UK crafters – the sentiment stamps allow you to stamp the words “chips“ and “French fries”, appealing to stamps on both sides of the pond.
My first two Friendly Seagulls card ideas combine this fun set with Country Woods Designer Series Paper (163393). I think they go together beautifully and it’s always good to combine the new with your existing craft supplies. Sometimes I find too much “new” can be a little overwhelming.
A few strips of this lovely Stampin’ Up!® Designer Series Paper, with a tiny hint of Pool Party cardstock provided a frame and platform for my seagull shouting “Chips!”
I coloured the seagull using Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. I used just three markers: Daffodil Delight (dark) for the feet and beak, Smoky Slate (light) for the shading and the Color Lifter to lighten and smooth the grey.
The birds, stamped in black, make a subtle finishing touch.
For my second Friendly Seagulls card, I covered the bottom section of the card front with this lovely piece of Country Woods Designer Series Paper.
I picked up the Early Espresso from the paper to frame my main image panel, which I brushed using Pool Party ink at the top and Crumb Cake ink at the bottom. On top of the Crumb Cake, I stamped the tiny shells image, also in Crumb Cake, for a subtle beach effect.
A couple of layers of Stampin’ Up!® Linen Thread tied around the layer and a stamped greeting finish off this fun Friendly Seagulls card.
For my final Friendly Seagulls card idea, I die-cut a circle of Basic White cardstock, which I brushed using Blending Brushes with Pool Party and Azure Afternoon ink. This is a really quick and easy way to create a seascape background for my friendly seagull.
I created a white border using circle dies and popped the seagull on top.
The background is embossed using the Timber 3D embossing folder, which is my most-used Stampin’ Up!® embossing folder, probably of all time. I layered this onto some Azure Afternoon cardstock and a Thick Basic White card base.
The finishing touches here are some tiny, tiny fish stamped using the Friendly Seagulls stamp set, coloured using a Pool Party Stampin’ Blend and painstakingly fussy cut, plus a simple greeting label stamped in black on Daffodil Delight cardstock, to pick up the colour of the seagull's feet.
Friendly Seagulls is, in my opinion, a must-have stamp set for anyone who loves the seaside or simply likes to send fun cards. It’s free with a £55 order from 7th January to 28 February 2025. Don’t miss it!
Well, you've convinced me to get the stamp set when I do my big SAB order : ) Love your ideas!
