There are two types of crafters in the Stampin’ Up!® world, I find. Those who have sorted all their Christmas projects and are now thinking ahead to 2025. And those like me.
I was convinced I had enough Christmas cards left from previous years and from this year’s events, but it turned out the box contained some 3D projects which were making it look fuller than it was.
What I DID have was quite a big pile of stamped and punched Humble Home houses which I’d made for some 3D treat boxes. However, while making them, I got distracted and stamped FAR more than I needed.
So I quickly set aside what I needed to make the required treat boxes – more on those later – and used the remaining house fronts on Stampin’ Up!® Note Cards and Envelopes to make REALLY simple cards.
Here’s a stamping tip: if you have the Stampin’ Up!® Humble Home punch (currently out of stock in here in Europe but due back in Christmas week) try this tip: stamp the roof and chimney first, then punch it out for perfect positioning. Then you can stamp the house detail on top. I’ve tried stamping house and roof before punching and I never seem to get them lined up properly.
Bonus tip: Yes you can stamp these cute Humble Home houses on to coloured cardstock but I found that even Stampin’ Up!®’s new Basic Beige was a little dark for my needs. Instead, I flipped over the brick stamp and used the back instead. This stamped the shape of the house in a paler colour which didn’t overwhelm the finer detail.
I coloured the rest of the stamped image using Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers, then popped up my punched image on a Notecard using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
To finish off, I stamped Merry Christmas from Humble Home in Garden Green ink from Stampin’ Up!®.
I did feel a little bad about having to recycle all the excess house backs that I’d stamped and punched for all those treat boxes I didn’t need, so decided to use a couple of them on a full-sized card made from Stampin’ Up!® Thick Basic White cardstock.
I arranged them with the house backs flat and the coloured one popped up, keeping the card really simple as before.
Now to the really fun project; the treat boxes.
I had some chocolates from Lidl or Aldi – I forget which – but are basically Fererro Rocher without the little paper case. Seriously, I defy anyone to tell the difference in a blind taste test, and they were less than half the price.
I measured them to come up with a little tray to be sandwiched between the house front and back.
My brain wouldn’t allow me to have the chimney on the opposite side on the back, so I carefully trimmed these off, so it’s just the brick house with red roofline.
The front is where the fun happens, and these are stamped and coloured as before with the addition of a little (retired) Crystal Effects on the door and windows.
I hope you like my Humble Home last-minute Christmas craft projects. The stamp set is available but if you want the bundled savings, please wait until the punch comes back into stock in week commencing 23 December. Meanwhile there are loads of Christmas favourites in the last-chance sale, so do take a look!
