Shimmery Christmas card ideas using Yuletide Village from Stampin’ Up!®

The new Stampin’ Up!® Mini Catalogue is going live soon so today I have two projects to show you using the new Christmas Stampin’ Up!® stamp set Yuletide Village, along with some really fun techniques.

Yuletide Village features in the September-December Mini Catalogue, which goes live on 4 September 2024.

For these two cards, I have paired Yuletide Village with the sentiment stamp set Greetings of the Season, which is a Stampin’ Up!® Online Exclusive that’s available to customers right now.

I’m not sure the photos do these projects justice but I wanted to try some new techniques – new to me, at least. 

 

For the backgrounds of both of these cards, I used Stampin’ Up!® Metallic Enamel Effects (161610) in copper. 

I began by stamping the house and church from Yuletide Village in black ink on to white cardstock and colouring it in lightly using Blender Pens and ink pads. 

 

Next I stamped the same image again on some masking paper/sticky note. I placed this mask directly on top of the original image then applied copper Metallic Enamel Effects on top, creating a coppery sky. For the house card I used a Blending Brush which created a lovely soft effect. 

For the church card, I used a paintbrush to apply the copper Metallic Enamel Effects and I was less keen on the result. It wasn’t as easy to apply, either!

I removed the mask to reveal the image beneath, then applied some Shimmery White embossing paste from Stampin’ Up!® on the roof and ground, to create some sparkly textured snow. 

 

Finally, I used some slightly diluted Stampin’ Up!® White Craft Ink to add some snowy dots on top of the coppery background. However, I would possibly advise against this as 48 hours later, they are still not dry! Maybe they’ll be dry by Christmas? I should invest in the other pack of Metallic Enamel Effects which includes a white bottle, as this dries very quickly. 

 

Quite a lot of effort had gone into creating these Yuletide Village images so I kept the rest of the card clean and simple, with white layers on white card bases. 

 

The words, from Greetings of the Season, are stamped in Pretty Peacock – which goes beautifully with copper – and Pebbled Path for contrast.

The result is two striking and shimmery cards for Christmas. I hope you like them!
