Stampin Up Frames and Flowers card and scrapbook page - two in one.

Who likes a twofer? I do! This is when you get two projects in one go, and is what happened when I made this Stampin’ Up!® scrapbook page using Frames & Flowers Designer Series Paper.

Stampin’ Up!® is expanding its traditional scrapbooking range, following the rescue of scrapbook company Close to My Heart, so this is an excellent time to get back into scrapbooking.

For this 12"x12" scrapbook page I used Frames & Flowers Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up!® This speciality paper features three sheets of pop-out die-cuts, making decorating your projects really easy.

I used a strip of the beautiful Designer Series Paper as the starting point for my page design, anchoring the main photo of my beautiful great-niece, Lily.

This standard 6"x4" photo is mounted onto some Pretty in Peacock cardstock, then a few layers of Frames & Flowers Designer Series Paper at various angles. 

 

I created the Hello Sunshine greeting using a combination of Stampin’ Up!® dies and stamps. “Hello” is die-cut from cardstock using A La Mode Alphabet Dies. I actually cut the letters from Peach Pie cardstock as I incorrectly thought the colour featured in Frames & Flowers Designer Series Paper. When it didn’t look right, rather than cut them again, I coloured them using a Blending Brush and some Pumpkin Pie ink.

“Sunshine” is stamped using Kindest Expressions stamp set from Stampin’ Up!®. I used a Pretty in Peacock Stampin’ Write marker to ink just one word. 

When inking just part of a stamp using a marker, it’s important to use a water-based marker, as alcohol markers will dry too fast for stamping with. If you use alcohol markers, all you’ll get is a stained stamp.

 

The frame is cut using Wildflower Designs Dies from Stampin’ Up!®. I cut one layer from white cardstock to get the stitched detail, and another layer from Petal Pink cardstock to get the frame. I had remembered to use the correct colour this time but, to tie it in with the words, I used a Blending Brush to add some strategically placed Pumpkin Pie ink.

To finish off the page, I used some of the die-cut elements from Frames & Flowers Designer Series Paper to add some leaves and flowers to pick up the colours of Lily’s outfit.

So where does the twofer come in?

 

Because I’d die-cut the letters in a reasonably straight line from my Peach Pie cardstock, I had the word “Hello” left over. It was, of course, still the wrong colour, so I brayered over the top using Pumpkin Pie ink to pick up the correct colour from the background paper.

This background layer is one of the panels in Frames & Flowers Designer Series Paper which makes cardmaking really easy and gives you lots of variety of design. 

 

I simply mounted the HELLO layer onto some white cardstock, popped it up on this panel of paper and poked in a few green leaves for interest.

This makes a cheery card for many occasions, and means I didn’t have to discard the frame when die-cutting my letters.
