For my card designs, I took inspiration from some talented Stampin’ Up!® demonstrators around the world, starting with this ingenious idea from Meg Loven at LovenStamps.com

This clever design is perfect for Stampin’ Up!® Designer Series Paper featuring a scene which you can’t bear to cut up or cover. You need a 6"x6" piece which has a reverse design that will blend nicely with the front.

Trim it to just smaller than the height of your card (if you use A4 cardstock like I do, you’ll want to trim it to 14.3cm high to fit a standard card made from a piece of A5.

Next you score the paper at 10cm from the right-hand edge and stick this to a quarter sheet of cardstock. The remaining DSP folds over to create your card front. Now you can add a strip of white cardstock inside for your greeting and handwritten message. It’s important here to make this narrower than the front DSP flap so it doesn't show when the card is closed.

Then decorate the front as you wish – I used greetings from that must-have Stampin’ Up!® stamp set, Simply Said, along with some die-cut foliage.

Next up is this flip top card which is a popular design among Stampin’ Up!® fans.

Again, the card base is just a quarter sheet of cardstock, then the flap is created separately. You can make this any size you wish.

As you can see from this photo, mine are two different sizes. For the larger flap, which I prefer, I used a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock 8.5cm x 15cm, scored at 3cm from one end. This small flap is then stuck between the card base and the large piece of DSP which covers it.

Here you can see I chose a pale design so any handwritten message will be visible.

Then you can decorate your front flap as you wish. I chose to use a belly band, stamped with Sweetly Scripted, which is one of my favourite sentiment stamp sets from Stampin’ Up!®

My third Thoughtful Journey card is CASEd from Julie Baca at SunnyDayStamping.com. It's a pocket card which can also be used as a gift card holder.

This is a really simple concept – it’s just a standard card base, trimmed a little and joined at the sides using double-sided tape. Keep the inside simple for just a message.

Or create an inner pocket if you want to add a gift card, lottery ticket or folding money!

Finally I made a triptych card using Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up!®. Again, this is perfect for these beautiful scenes as you can see the whole sheet when you open it.

For US card sizes you can probably just cut the 6x6 piece of paper into thirds but here in the UK we use A4 cardstock which makes slightly narrower cards so I cut my paper into 5cm strips which are ever so slightly narrower than 2in.

When you open out the card you can see the whole design, broken up by a strip of white cardstock for the greeting and handwritten message.
