I am having so much fun using the new Yuletide Village stamp set from the Stampin’ Up!® Mini Catalogue.
Last week I showed you some subtle copper and white projects, but this week I have blasted my Yuletide Village (164310) projects with colour.
I used Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers to colour in the houses for these two Yuletide Village projects; a Christmas card and a Christmas gift tag.
Once again I have used Shimmer White embossing paste from Stampin’ Up!® and, for the tag, I used some more Stampin’ Up!® Metallic Enamel Effects (161610), this time in silver.
Let’s start with the Yuletide Village card. I began by stamping the house in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. This is a water-based ink which is essential when using alcohol markers such as Stampin’ Blends, as it prevents the ink from running.
Next I masked the house image so I could stamp the wall and right-hand tree, then masked the wall so I could stamp two more trees on the left. This gave me a pleasing little Yuletide Village scene to work with.
I coloured the image using Stampin’ Up!® Stampin’ Blends, using Pool Party, Old Olive, Real Red, Gray Granite and Daffodil Delight.
To create the night sky, I used Night of Navy (light and dark), graduating the colour out from the house so it gets darker. On top of this I used the sadly now retired chalk marker to add some freehand snowy dots.
The finishing touch for the image is the Shimmery White embossing paste, which I applied with a small paintbrush to the roof, ground and, to a letter extent, trees.
I left a lot of plain white foreground on this image to leave space for the lovely greeting from Greetings of the Season (164325), which is a Stampin’ Up!® Online Exclusive that’s available to customers now. Yuletide Village is from the Stampin’ Up!® September-December Mini Catalogue, which goes live tomorrow (Wednesday 4 September).
The gorgeous Night of Navy gingham paper comes from another new Mini Catalogue product; A Little Bit Festive Designer Series Paper (164107), which has lots of die-cut images in it to make your Christmas crafting really easy.
The card is finished off with some White Frayed Grosgrain Ribbon (164205), tied in a simple knot because I didn’t cut myself enough for a bow!
The gift tag uses similar colours but I wanted to try something new with the silver Stampin’ Up!® Metallic Enamel Effects.
I cut a tag shape from Misty Moonlight cardstock then swiped silver Metallic Enamel Effects across the tag using a Stampin’ Up!® Blending Brush.
On top of this I stamped the hatched image from Expressions of Kindness stamp set, although any texture stamp would do.
Then, around the top of the tag, I added some white dots using the sadly now retired chalk marker from Stampin’ Up!®
This formed the background for my little house image, which I again stamped using the Yuletide Village stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured using Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. This time I used Balmy Blue, Real Red and Daffodil Delight. The roof and ground are finished off as before using Shimmery White embossing paste.
The sentiment again comes from Greetings of the Season from Stampin’ Up!®'s Online Exclusives range. This is stamped in black on Real Red cardstock and cut into strips.
The finishing touch here is a tassel of White Frayed Grosgrain Ribbon tied together with a strip of Natural Tones Linen Thread (164071) which is coming up in the Stampin’ Up!® September-December Mini Catalogue.
I hope you love this Yuletide Village Stampin’ Up!® stamp set as much as I do.
