Fragrant Forest and Grassy Grove in a gorgeous autumnal colour combination

Stampin Up UK copper clay colour combo

I have a colour combination for you today, and a card which blends the brand new Fragrant Forest background stamp with a Stampin’ Up!® old favourite, Grassy Grove.

Stampin Up UK Grassy Grove Fragrant Forest

This is my kind of Christmas card, but also my kind of card to send year-round, too. Yes, I love trees, as regular readers should know by now!

When I saw the Fragrant Forest background stamp in the September to December Mini Catalogue from Stampin’ Up!®, my first thought was “I can’t buy more tree stamps” but this was quickly quashed when I realised that it would go perfectly with Grassy Grove.

I love showing my customers how they can refresh their existing Stampin’ Up!® supplies without breaking the bank and, by adding the Fragrant Forest stamp to their stash, they can give Grassy Grove a whole new lease of life. Many of my regular customers already have Grassy Grove because I did an online class with this set during lockdown.

This project was inspired by one of the Stampin’ Up!® colour combinations in this year’s charts: Copper Clay, Old Olive, Pretty Peacock, Blackberry Bliss.

Using Fragrant Forest and Pretty Peacock ink, I stamped onto Old Olive cardstock, then layered this onto a white mat and a Pretty Peacock card base.

Stamping with a background stamp can be a challenge – but not if you use this easy method. I’ve used this method for years and it saves you time (you don’t have to get the stamp out of the packet) and money (you don’t need a huge stamp block or stamp-positioning tool).

The deer is stamped in Copper Clay, while the trees are stamped in Old Olive; both are die cut using the Grove dies.

Next I deployed my 6cm (2 3/8") circle punch, punching in white, Blackberry Bliss and Distressed Gold. I stamped the greeting in Blackberry Bliss on the white circle – this sentiment comes from the Christmas Whimsy Card Kit )158166). This is a really fun kit that is worth buying for the stamp set alone as it’s so useful.

Offsetting the coloured circles behind the white, I created a sort-of border without having to find any extra equipment.

We don’t currently sell ribbon in Blackberry Bliss but that’s no problem as there are several ways you can colour your pale ribbons. I used some Bubble Bath ribbon from the Sheer Ribbon Combo Pack (161635) and a dark Blackberry Bliss Blend (154877), swiping very gently with the side of the brush end to colour the ribbon. The advantage of this technique is that it dries instantly thanks to the alcohol ink. It also makes the ribbon a little stiffer, which can make it easier to handle.

I created a long zig-zag shape with mine, held down with a short vertical piece of double-sided tape.

The finishing touch is inside the card; because of the dark-coloured card base, I lined it with white cardstock and stamped on top – not photographed because I always forget!

If you love this card and these projects as much as I do, you’ll be wanting to add everything to your craft stash – and the great news is you can do this at a bargain price during October if you join my Stampin’ Up!® team.

There are TWO amazing offers on until 31st October. You can build your Starter Kit with any products you like – these are just a suggestion but take a look...
