You're So Vintage joy fold card

I had fun making this project, using lots of vintage-y distressing with my new favourite set, Timeless Textures, and finishing off with some shimmer on the stars. 

It’s a joy fold card – I have no idea why they are called that, but the main panel is a small card which opens at the left. The key is to have something at the left on the front left panel which will hold it closed; I’ve used a star and swirl from the That Thing You Did stamp set. I love this set, and do hope it makes the cut when it comes to the retiring list, which will be released very soon on 18th April!

Don’t miss out on your favourite 2014-16 In Color products

The time is coming... the retiring list is on its way soon, in readiness for a new catalogue at the beginning of June.

While I can’t predict what will be on the retiring list (well, I can hazard a few educated guesses but please don’t hold me to them), I CAN tell you that the products pictured below will definitely be on their way out. Yes, the 2014-16 In Colors will be going (*sob*) to make way for a new set of In Colors. I know LOTS of people will be particularly sad to see Blackberry Bliss and Lost Lagoon go, and I will mourn the loss of Mossy Meadow, so now is the time to start stocking up on ink refills, cardstock and ribbon if you want to hang onto your favourites.

Why now? Because from the moment the retiring list is released, items will only be available while stocks last... and people around the world will be rushing to place their orders. Seriously, they will. And there’s absolutely no need to leave it until then because we KNOW that the In Color 2014-16 products will be going. You can most likely add to this list:

• ALL the Designer Series Papers (and definitely those featuring In Colors)
• Possibly all the washi tapes (because they usually co-ordinate with DSPs)
• Gorgeous Grunge (that’s just a hunch)
• Tap, Tap, Tap (another hunch)
• Sprinkles of Life (because we usually get a new RMHC stamp set every year)
• Modern Mosaic embossing folder (another hunch)
• Plus, of course, many items from the Spring/Summer catalogue

So there you have it: buy now and you’ll miss the rush, and avoid the risk of being disappointed. Don’t tell me I didn’t tell you so!

Mix It Up Monday: A Nice Cuppa teabag holder

It’s Mix It Up Monday and time for another colour combination from my In Color charts.  

I thought it was time I created something 3D, as there’s a bit of a shortage of 3D items on my blog. I used the Scallop Tag Topper punch to create a simple pouch for two teabags. Tea, teacups and teabags are preying on my mind at the moment in the run-up to my Teatime Treats class! 

I cut two 2” (5cm) strips of Tip Top Taupe and punched them, then scored about 2cm from the bottom to create the base. It’s a very easy way of making a fun pouch - the jute strands around the whole thing hold the teabags inside. 

And now I’ve completed all the Tip Top Taupe combos from my original chart - I’m on the countdown to finishing them all!

Caturday: Sammy

This Caturday, meet Sammy, another cat I encountered on my work around the back streets of Matlock Bath. Sorry for the poor picture, he decided he’d rather have some fuss than his photo taken. I know his name is Sammy because we were chatting to his parents, a friendly couple who live high up above Matlock Bath. I was surprised how many houses there are up there. Access is pretty hairy but the views are impressive! Below is the view from just past Sammy’s house; the road you can just see is the main Matlock Bath promenade.
