You're So Vintage joy fold card

I had fun making this project, using lots of vintage-y distressing with my new favourite set, Timeless Textures, and finishing off with some shimmer on the stars.

It’s a joy fold card – I have no idea why they are called that, but the main panel is a small card which opens at the left. The key is to have something at the left on the front left panel which will hold it closed; I’ve used a star and swirl from the That Thing You Did stamp set. I love this set, and do hope it makes the cut when it comes to the retiring list, which will be released very soon on 18th April!

New catalogue countdown!

You’ve all been very patient, waiting for new catalogue sneak peeks. So here’s something to whet your appetite.. a joy fold card featuring a brand new stamp set called Easy Events. It’s a really cute set and I’ve paper-pieced the shell using this beautiful new paper collection, Cheerful Treat. The paper is for hostesses only, so if you want to get your hands on it, get in touch to book your party soon!

There’s another new product on this card, too, but it’s hard to see from the photo. The base card is created from one of our gorgeous new In Colors, Lucky Limeade. It’s like Old Olive, only brighter and slightly more acidic and I love it!

The joy fold card is very simple to make but looks impressive. Click here for more information.

Stamps: Easy Events, Sincere Salutations
Cardstock: Lucky Limeade, Basic Black, Whisper White
Paper: Cheerful Treat
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: Markers, blender pens, 1 3/8” Circle punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Scallop Edge Punch

Happy Birthday, Kelly!

Today is Kelly’s birthday! Be sure to pop over to her blog and wish her a happy day.

She is so talented that it was daunting making her a card, I can tell you. So I made a joy fold card as I hadn’t seen her make one of those. Can you imagine my face when I popped round to deliver it and she showed me her latest creation: a joy fold card!!!!! So I kind of wish I could be there when she opens this.

I’ve made a few joy fold cards before, and have described how to make them here. But I’ve taken a photo of the inside, too, so you can see what it looks like.

To make this, I used Greenhouse Garden, some lovely blues and purples and lots of stamping off, to mute the shades.

Stamps: Greenhouse Garden, Sincere Salutations
Cardstock: Brocade Blue, Elegant Eggplant, Very Vanilla
Ink: Brocade Blue, Bordering Blue, Bashful Blue, Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant, Pale Plum
Accessories: ¼” Grosgrain Ribbon - Elegant Eggplant

More joy... and punch drunk!

This is another Joy Fold card, in the pretty patterns of the Sweet Always Designer Series Paper.

It’s pretty much the same idea as the previous Joy Fold card but I was playing around and trying to come up with a project for my next class. I stamped directly on to the paper to create the busy floral effect for the centre panel.

Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes, Circle of Friendship, Daily Flexible Phrases
Cardstock: Pumpkin Pie, Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Paper: Sweet Always
Ink: Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Round Tab Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, 1 3/8” circle punch, 1 ¼” circle punch, 1” circle punch, Crafters’ Toolkit, Flower Fusion felt flowers, Rich Regals brads

And I just had to show you this! I received a rather large Stampin’ Up!® order a few days ago and couldn't resist taking a photo. These are just the punches! There were also piles of stamp sets, stacks of inkpads and loads of cardstock and Designer Series Papers.

And most of the customers at the workshop managed to earn a free stamp set through Sale-A-Bration, too! Sale-A-Bration has finished now - but there will be plenty more special offers throughout the year. Keep checking back for details.

Accessories: Punches – and loads of them!

Joy Fold

This is what is known as a Joy Fold card and I’m afraid I have no idea why it is called that, just that it’s quite cool.

You start with a side-opening landscape card made by cutting a sheet of A4 in half along the length. Trim off approximately two thirds of the front panel to leave a short front. Decorate as desired.

The centre panel is like a little card on its own but with the fold on the right. The back of this is stuck to the inside of the main card, so you are left with two overlapping flaps, as shown.

Then you need an accent of some sort – in this case the scalloped circle – to hold down the front panel. The trick is to apply adhesive carefully so that you can tuck the small flap under it to hold it down.

Confused? Yes, me too. But it all comes together in the end. The second photo shows what it looks like when closed.

I’m loving these felt flowers and being very brave in using them instead of hoarding them. I love the colours – Rose Red, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive – so this may be my colour combination of choice for a while! As long as Old Olive’s in there, I’m happy!

Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes, Circle of Friendship, Daily Flexible Phrases
Cardstock: Old Olive, Rose Red, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White
Paper: Summer Picnic
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Rose Red
Accessories: Round Tab Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, 1” circle punch, 1 ¼” circle punch, ¼” Grosgrain Ribbon - Pumpkin Pie, Rich Regals brads, Flower Fusion felt flowers, white gel pen
