Nuts About You card for wedding or anniversary

A really simple card that makes a quirky alternative to the traditional engagement/wedding/anniversary card and is also handy for using up tiny scraps of DSP!

Nuts About You is a fun set that you can only get if you host a party (or place a qualifying order). Nuts about these coffee cups

This is the second Make & Take project from my launch party at the weekend. We made three projects, all using the new In Colors; the third project was a bookmark showcasing all five colours, which people can keep in their catalogues. 

I love these cute little coffee cups and I think the ladies did, too. We filled them with monkey nuts to make a fun little gift or party favour. 

They’re really simple to cover - you simply remove the ridged kraft cover and use it as a template to cut the DSP. The cups came from eBay - search for “paper coffee cups 4oz” and remember to order lids as they are separately. 

The outer is made from a 2" strip of Hello Honey cardstock, cut from a sheet of 12"x12". Score at 5" from each end before cutting both ends with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch. The base is covered with a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock, with the edges fringed to represent grass. 

I know I shouldn't say it myself, but I LOVE this project!

Nuts About You "hang in there" card

Something you should know about me is that when I need to create a lot of samples in a hurry (eg, for my catalogue launch this Saturday), I simply turn to Pinterest and start CASEing (Copy And Share Everything).  That way, instead of fiddling around with paper and stamps and probably producing one original idea in three hours, I can turn out several projects in the same amount of time. 

Of course, it helps enormously that the US/Canada catalogue comes out one month earlier than ours. This means we have a whole month of projects to copy! 

Sometimes I stay with the card I’m CASEing, sometimes I adapt to the supplies I have and sometimes I go so far off piste that you wouldn’t recognise them as the same card. 

This one was a very close copy of a card made by US demonstrator Linda Callahan. All I changed was the DSP, the button and the colours of the stamping (as you probably know, I prefer stronger colours).  Like the previous project I posted, I inked the tree in Soft Suede, then cleaned off the leaves using a cotton bud, before reinking them with a marker. 

I love the trend for the circles of thread/twine and can never get them perfect. I learned recently that this was because many stampers spray them with starch first (maybe hairspray would work too?). After learning this, I decided that life was too short and I’d simply live with the imperfection!

Nuts About You anniversary card

I love Nuts About You, one of our new hostess stamp sets. It's great for so many occasions, but I was baffled as to the inclusion of a "congratulations" stamp set until a friend pointed out that it would work for wedding and anniversary cards.

Some friends are reaching their 20th anniversary soon (makes me feel old!) so I thought I'd give it a try. I don't have a full set of markers (gasp!) so I inked up the tree in Soft Suede, cleaned the leaves using a cotton bud, and then coloured them with an Old Olive marker. There's always a way!
