Lotus Blossom in yellow

I’ve always loved yellow and I particularly love these Lotus Blossoms stamped in shades of yellow... I think it makes them look a little like daffodils. Not the traditional trumpet type, but those frilly ones (no idea what they’re called).

I’ve used masking here to provide some space around some of the flowers; it’s really easy with a sticky note, but if you don’t have any, use your Tombow as a temporary adhesive. All you do is smear it on very thinly and allow it to dry clear.

I confess that for this card I used some retired ribbon. Double confession: I’ve only just realised that it was retired! I’m usually pretty good at clearing out any retired ribbons and stashing them away to make hostess gifts, prizes etc. This one must have slipped through the net and it was only when creating the product table below that I realised!

The Irresistibly Yours DSP makes another appearance as I love it. Here I’ve coloured the stripes with a sponge dauber and Daffodil Delight ink. The sponge daubers are the easiest way to colour the stripes as you just follow the lines, then wipe off any excess with some tissue paper.

I have several packs of this DSP in stock now, which was no mean feat as it’s not available to buy; you earn it with a £45 order! But I needed LOTS of packs for my All-Day Craftathon, where everyone will get half a pack to play with. I’m delighted to say that this event is now fully booked. I have three projects designed and one more to come up with. Needless to say, my mojo has left me, but it’s always tricky when it’s the school holiday and the house is full.

Happy Birthday From The Herd

You know what this blog needs? More llamas! And, as it’s been a while since I posted a project using From The Herd, that’s soon rectified. I may have mentioned it before but I really do love this stamp – it’s so silly and fun. And quite soothing to colour, too, once you get the hang of using the Blendabilities. They’re quite easy when you stop thinking too hard about it!

While I’m here, I must mention that time is running out to register for my All-Day Craftathon on 28th February – the deadline for registering is 11pm on Friday, so that I can order the supplies on Saturday morning. Places are running out, too! I really can only take a couple more people for this event, so don’t delay if you want to join me!  All details are HERE.

Celebrate your Big Day with lots of stripes... and cake

You know how some cards are really quick … you step back from the project and think “wow! I can’t believe that came together so easily!”

This isn’t one of those. But it was fun to make and I am happy with the idea in principle, even though I would do it differently next time.

It all begins with a piece of the Irresistibly Yours Designer Series Paper, which is FREE with a £45 order during Sale-a-Bration (begins 6th January). There are six patterns in this pack, all glossy white on white, which opens up a whole world of possibilities!

I couldn’t resist having a go at this fun rainbow effect, which involved seven ink pads, seven sponge daubers and almost a whole pad of sticky notes. What would I do differently? I’d make sure the centre of the image was coloured in yellow and orange, ie the paler shades, so that the main image showed up more clearly.

I stamped the images in Black Stazon which brings me to a note about Stazon and photopolymer.  My Big Day stamp set (the words and the cake) is rubber, so all is fine, but the balloons are from my From The Herd stamp set, which is photopolymer.

Stazon WILL stain your photopolymer stamps which, quite frankly, I don’t care much about. But you must remember that if you clean your photopolymer stamps with Stazon cleaner, you need to clean them again to get the Stazon cleaner off them, otherwise it will damage them. Make sense?

Anyway, back to the card. The greeting is stamped onto a Window Sheet, and I’ve coloured behind it with  a Chalk Marker … the same one I used to draw the dots around the label image.
