Mix It Up Monday: Paisleys & Posies

I confess this is not my kind of colour combination at all. I like my colours dark and dirty, but needs must. It is, after all, Mix It Up Monday and time for another project made with a colour combination from my latest set of In Color charts

I set myself the challenge of creating a project using the new Paisleys & Posies stamp set - again, not my style at all, but it’s good to get out of your rut now and again!

Caturday: Friendly one-eyed cat

Now that I no longer have a daily commute, I’ve been trying to do more walking and have set myself the modest challenge of a mile a day. It doesn’t always work but, as I’ve just come back from a seven-mile work, I don’t feel quite so bad about missing a day or two a week. On these walks, I bump into a lot of cats. This one was very friendly and, I think, is the one with only one eye. The trouble with friendly cats is that they are difficult to photograph as they keep coming up too close to the camera, so you can’t get a good pic.

Mixed Drinks gift packaging

It was one of my Virtual Hostess Club members’ birthdays this month and one of the perks of membership is a Stampin’ Up!® birthday gift... wrapped in Stampin’ Up!® packaging, of course. This is where my In Colour Designer Series Paper stack comes into its own, and the 12x12 sheet was just the right size to wrap the present.

The label and card are created using the versatile Mixed Drinks stamp set. No difficult colouring with this set; you just stamp the liquid inside the glass and no, it doesn’t fit perfectly, so that really takes the pressure away. The finishing touches are a piece of pompom trim and some co-ordinating Dapper Denim ribbon.

Birthday Fiesta - out of this world llama

Continuing the white card base theme, this project is clean but not so simple as it uses not one but four different stamp sets. I had a concept in my head which looked a little like this, and it was fun to create a crazy dream-like situation for this llovely llama. I made it for my friend and former colleague Kerry, who kindly organised a collection for me when I left work... and in an absent-minded move, almost asked me if I’d like to contribute! Bless her.

Mix It Up Monday: Best Birds

We had a busy weekend with visitors and a trip to Matlock Bath Illuminations, so I’m keeping things simple again, with another white card.

Yes, it’s Mix It Up Monday again and time for another project made with a colour combination from my latest set of In Color charts.  this time I'm using Sweet Sugarplum again, but teaming with with an unusually neutral palette (for me), with not one but two shades of grey. Grey isn’t my favourite colour so this was a bit of a struggle but I think it paid off, even if my card design isn’t particularly original.

Caturday: Saffy

Saffy doesn’t know how lucky she is, sharing her home as she does with four sheep, two pigs, eight piglets and, wait for it... two alpacas! She and her owners are really living the dream and were very obliging when we visited last weekend, allowing us to feed the sheep and alpacas. (If only I knew more people with alpacas, we could have a weekly Alpacaday!)

Despite all of us technically being adults, we were squealing like children at a petting zoo, especially at these...

... who kept trying to sneak up on us but, the minute we turned to look at them, ran off at full pelt back to the safety of their parents. It was so nice to see pigs living as pigs should, with lots of space and an orchard to snuffle around.
