It’s hard to believe that just a few short weeks ago, this cat was so scared of everyone that, if he was in the garden, we’d only have to go near the (closed) French windows - not even tap on the glass - and he’d bolt. So when daughter decided to tame him, I didn’t hold out much hope.
And yet, barely a month later, this is the situation. He will now sit on her knee (she holds his paws up as he tends to pad a bit too much), allow her to pick him up, and rubs around her legs, purring like a tractor. It’s a shame she moves out tomorrow! And a shame for both of them that she can’t take him with her.
Fortunately, he also trusts me and is getting more confident around other people, too. We just need to keep his confidence growing so that he becomes more suitable for rehoming. Any takers? No other pets in the house please, as he’s too timid to be around dogs and too aggressive to other cats to take to another. Neutered, FIV negative and recently treated for fleas, too. The former required catching him in a cat trap and handling with thick gloves… the latter was carried out with no fuss, while he was being held. What a difference!
