Trees? Yes please! When I saw the beautiful Autumn Toile Designer Series Paper in the latest Stampin’ Up!® Mini Catalogue, I knew it had my name all over it.
I love autumn colours and tree images, so this gorgeous Designer Paper just had to land in my Stampin’ Up!® shopping basket.
I knew my nature-loving customers would feel the same so held an online craft class for them, so they could enjoy this great product and add to their masculine card stash.
We made six cards in one evening – no mean feat but the designs were very simple, as you can see here.
I have two versions of some of these cards to show you; one made as a sample for the class and tutorial, and I’ll also show you the ones I made during the class, where I strayed off piste.
For this card, I copied the idea from the catalogue and coloured the Designer Series Paper. Positioning the tree so it makes a nice focal point is key, so be careful how you cut the Autumn Toile Designer Series Paper.
My second version uses a different stamp and a punch instead of a die because I wanted to keep things a little simpler. I added a strip of paper to the bottom of the punched label, to make up for the smaller greeting.
For the second card using this same sheet of Autumn Toile Designer Series Paper, I coloured all over it using a blending brush and some Crumb Cake ink. The paper design speaks for itself so I kept this card really simple.
During the class I wanted to mix things up a little so I added the colour to the panel of Autumn Toile Designer Series Paper, then scrunched it up into a ball.
I opened it out and smoothed as much as I could before lightly adding some Early Espresso ink to the raised areas, and distressing around the edges. It gives it a much more textured effect.
I love foxes, too, so was delighted to see them feature so heavily in this design. For this circle aperture card, again it is important to get the fox in the right place, so be careful when cutting.
I did use a non-Stampin’ Up!® product for this card; a laser-cut leaf from my craft stash. But if you have a set of dies which cut large leaves, you could use those instead. Or even a sprig of foliage or a pumpkin.
This Best Wishes card uses a piece of fox paper from the Autumn Toile pack, cut into three strips to create a triptych effect.
My greeting didn’t quite fill the punched circle so I added a piece of sprig paper to the bottom, which also ties it in with the background.
For this Mossy Meadow pheasant card, I kept things simple again, embellishing only with a flag of Autumn Toile Designer Series Paper and some Mossy Meadow ribbon.
This is a really simple design which can be adapted to any Designer Series Paper.
Finally, I love the white background of this pumpkin card. For the original I used an old wood grain embossing folder which I go back to time and again but, by the time of the class, I had a new Stampin’ Up!® embossing folder to play with, so used that instead.
The new one is called Peaceful Greenery and created a leafy border with a plain centre. I used an old HELLO stamp for my greeting because my Simply Said set was packed away ready for another class.
I hope you like my Autumn Toile cards and want to have a go yourself. I have a tutorial available to purchase in my BuyMeACoffee store.
