Easy card ideas with Fruit Salad Designer Series Paper

Fruit Salad Designer Series Paper Stampin UP easy card ideas

I firmly believe that cardmaking does not have to be difficult, and you don’t have to throw every Stampin’ Up!® product from the catalogue at your designs.

These four simple cards are made with Fruit Salad Designer Series Paper, cardstock, greeting stamps and ribbon scraps. Stampin’ Up!® Designer Series Paper is a great way to get lots of variety in your images with minimal outlay.

You can cut the images out instead of stamping them, and get lots of mileage from one pack. In fact, this is how I managed to keep my classes going during lockdown, without asking customers to break the bank.

Fruit Salad Designer Series Paper (164943) is perfect for this and what’s more, it’s free with a £55 order in the UK, which means you can select it if you order the two stamp sets used here – With You in Mind (164747) and Simply Said (163756) – along with any pack of assorted or single-colour A4 cardstock and some Basic White Thick A4 cardstock (159230) for your card bases.

I used the same basic design for my two pineapple cards.

This is the one I made first, with the busy pineapple design at the bottom. But then I decided the fussy-cut pineapple would stand out better on a simpler design, so made another.

Both of them use nothing but Fruit Salad Designer Series Paper and white cardstock. Even the green strip across the centre is cut from the Designer Series Paper.

The words come from one of my most-used Stampin’ Up!® stamp sets, Simply Said, with the greeting label cut using my paper trimmer, and the ends cut at an angle freehand.

I’ve used some of the same yellow Fruit Salad Designer Series Paper as the centre panel on this pear card. This is a really simple design where you cut three strips and space them out with a gap for some ribbon. This really does make it much easier than trying to measure perfectly.

I have used an extra tool here; a Stampin’ Up!® circle punch. But most crafters have one of these in their stash and if you’re just starting out, cut a square or a rectangle instead. The ribbon is retired, from my stash.

Thank You is stamped in Garden Green using With You in Mind.

My final Fruit Salad Designer Series Paper card is slightly more complicated. I have CASEd this design from my friend and fellow Stampin’ Up!® demonstrator Julie at The Paper Haven. I cut 2.5cm (1") strips of Designer Series Paper and laid them on diagonally on a piece of white cardstock, brick style. This is an excellent way of using up scraps and you don’t even have to stick to the same Designer Series Paper pack. Just make sure some colours are carried through the designs.

This is finished off with Just a Note stamped in Garden Green on a white circle, with another ribbon scrap from my stash.

You can of course step up any of these card designs with ribbon, embellishments, die-cut images, stamped images and much more. But as a starting point, or if you are in a hurry or just want to play with your Designer Series Paper, these are wonderful and versatile designs.
