Harvest Stampin’ Up!® card ideas using Nature’s Harvest and Apple Harvest stamp sets

 

Today I have two Stampin' Up!® projects to show you, both on a harvest theme, both using the same design, but with very different stamp sets. I CASEd a beautiful Nature’s Harvest card to make one of my own in a different colour scheme, then CASEd the same project again to make it using the Apple Harvest stamp set, which you can see later in this blog post.

Do you know what CASEing is? This is a term we use in the Stampin' Up!® world when we take inspiration from other crafters. Most people say it stands for Copy And Share Everything although there are some variations on this theme.

CASEing is the backbone of crafting for the vast majority of us, and it can range from an outright copy to simply using one idea as a springboard for another. The most important thing when CASEing is to remember to give credit where it’s due. 

 

Here I have CASEd a card made by Angela Meiritz-Reid, a New Zealand Stampin’ Up!® demonstrator who was a member of the Stampin’ Up!® Artisan Design Team in 2021. 

Angela made her gorgeous card using the Nature’s Harvest bundle and the now retired Harvest Meadow Designer Series Paper. I absolutely love everything about this card and wanted to remake it in purples using current supplies. 

 

This is the card I came up with. I stuck to fairly rigidly to the same card design as Angela, but made a few changes.

Switching to Splendid Day Speciality Designer Series Paper, which features a double-sided design in Fresh Freesia, gave me a starting point for my purple theme. My wheat stems are die-cut in Blackberry Bliss and Rich Razzleberry; this die cuts three at once so I cut it out twice and then mixed them up. I added a sprig of Pear Pizzazz to give it a hint of freshness, too. 

 

 

Although I do have the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder used in Angela's project, I put my hand on the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder first and, as I love it, I decided to use that one instead.

The image is stamped in Stazon and coloured using ink pads and Water Painters. I used the Water Painter again to spatter the brick wall with ink in Rich Razzleberry, Pear Pizzazz and Daffodil Delight. 

To finish off the project, I used this beautiful sentiment, which was highly appropriate in this case, and cut it out with the matching die. Finally, because I’m not a blingy person, I finished off with Linen Thread instead of Gold Trim.

It was fun to use the Nature’s Harvest stamp set, as it hasn't seen ink for a while. Sometimes I feel I concentrate too much on brand new products so the older ones get neglected. 

 

Having said that, I did want to see how this Nature’s Harvest card would look using a newer stamp set; Apple Harvest. And this is where another type of CASEing comes in. 

 

 

 

While my first card was a pretty close copy of Angela’s original, this second card takes CASEing to the next level.

As you can see, the card is the same design; the same two panels of Designer Series Paper stuck at an angle, the same panel of embossed white cardstock spattered with ink, and the same image group at the bottom left, with thread around it finished off with a greeting. 

 

What’s different are the colours and the images. This time I used the large image from Apple Harvest, stamped in Stazon onto watercolour paper and coloured with ink pads and blender pens. I used Splendid Stems dies to create some leaves for the background.

The paper is actually Painted Christmas but the leaves and herringbone pattern are suitable for any time of year and the red goes so beautifully with the Apple Harvest stamp set. And this time I did use the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder, as I thought the bricks would be too similar to the herringbone pattern behind it. 

 

 

I don’t have a recipient in mind for this Apple Harvest card yet but I can always use birthday cards so used Go To Greetings to stamp on a label to finish off the project. 

I’ve just added up the cost of the supplies needed to make these two projects (assuming you have ink pads and basic tools) and by an incredible coincidence it comes to £154.
