A little stamping detective work

I was first introduced to rubber stamping by my cousin in Canada but, at first, our stamping styles couldn’t be more different.

She was into really cutesy, girlie images, lots of bows and frills and fuss. Lots of glitter and lots of detail. My style was very plain and simple (boring?) – no ribbon, no bows, no flowers, nothing girlie at all. And definitely no glitter!

But that was 12 years ago and things change. Gradually, I’ve learned to embrace ribbon, floral images and make more elaborate creations.

My cousin, on the other hand, has toned things down... we always say that we’ve met somewhere in the middle.

Which is a rather long-winded way build up to this card. I honestly think that, if I didn’t tell you otherwise, I could easily pass this card off as one of my own – and yet my cousin made it for me.

There are clues if you look for them. For a start, the card is slightly squatter than our standard size, to fit Canadian envelopes. A rather more obscure hint that it’s not my creation is the small amount of piercing in the bottom right-hand corner - I’d never think to do that.

But the big clue is the glitter on the butterfly. I still don’t get on with glitter – some things never change!

  1. What a lovely card to receive! I do see some similarities in your style but then it's always good to be slightly different too. I'm with you on the glitter. I try and try the glitter every year but end up accidently eating more than the amount on the card LOL!

  6. Aren't you lucky to receive such a beauty. I never think to combine pumpkin pie with regal rose. The colors really pop against the DP!
