Jolly Friends elf: creepy or cute?

Opinion seems to be polarised when it comes to this little elf, so I’ll let you decide: is he creepy or cute? I confess he wasn’t my favourite image from the Jolly Friends set - I was swayed by the moose - but I am warming to him. 

This project is a CASE of the card on page 29 of the Autumn/Winter catalogue, but I’ve swapped the moose for the elf and modified it to use the supplies I have.  It just shows you don’t need to have absolutely everything to use the catalogue as inspiration; many supplies are interchangeable.

Jolly Friends - a Christ-moose?

This moose seems to be everybody ’s favourite image from the Jolly Friends stamp set. Everybody’s except one; I’m afraid I can’t remember who it was but they said they liked all the images apart from this one! There’s always somebody who likes to be different, isn’t there? Usually, it’s me...

These are the thank you cards I made for last month’s club order. I got the hanging hat idea from Kelly; I thought it was so cute. The images are stamped in Soft Suede, then painted very quickly and lightly (to avoid smudging) using ink pad links and a simple paintbrush. You do have to be careful though, when using Whisper White, as it’s not really made for watercolouring. A light touch is needed.

I made tent-topper cards for a change, using a quarter of a sheet of cardstock to make the “tent”, and then mounting the image on top. Very simple but quite effective.

Around the World Blog Hop - Autumn/Winter catalogue

My project uses the Mountain Adventure stamp set, which I absolutely love. I love the clean lines and the way you get lots of different sized tree stamps so you can create a scene to scale. I confess I haven’t used the snowboard/skis/whatever as they ’re not really my cup of tea but I think this set is totally worth it for the mountains and trees! As you may have gathered if you’re a regular blog visitor, I particularly like this set when used with Birthday Fiesta, because llamas make everything better. And as Christmas is on its way, why not a Christmas llama? I’ve given him a festive hat, stamped with Jolly Friends and trimmed down to size. I had to make my own hat trim, so hand drew that and fussy cut it, then added a single pompom from the Whisper White Mini Pompom trim. It was worth it though, to see the llama’s smiling face.  Now you’ve rolled your eyes at my crazy llama card, it’s time to head to New Zealand to see what Kristine McNickle has in store. Mix It Up Monday: Emerald Envy with Jolly Friends

It’s Mix It Up Monday again and time for another project made with a colour combination from my latest set of In Color charts. For this project, I used the brand new set, Jolly Friends, with the co-ordinating Jolly Hat punch. I have to  confess I wasn’t that keen on this elf but I am warming to him - I love the colours and the fact that there’s even a tiny stamp to create his rosy cheeks. 

I CASEd the design from this project by Diana Gibbs. Diana has used the moose from the set, which is actually the reason I ordered it, so I thought I’d mix things up a bit. I love the way she’s rounded the corners and added some doodling - inspired!
