Stampin’ Up!® Ephemera Packs – the new way to make cardmaking EASY

An exciting new product range in the new Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalogue is the Mix and Match range, which includes four fun Ephemera Packs. Read on to see all the projects I’ve made with these fun packs... so far.

One of the things I love most about the catalogue, which goes live tomorrow, is that it is so accessible for new crafters.

There are lots of products in the early pages which are suitable for those who have never made a card before, and lots of tips to help them on their way.

I’ve been cardmaking for well over 25 years now but these Stampin’ Up!® Ephemera Packs – which some will view as “beginner” products – appeal to me, too. In fact they are perfect for anyone who is short of time, short of space or wants to pack up a little craft kit to take on holiday. And, drum roll please... Ephemera Packs are perfect for scrapbooking.

 

There are four Ephemera Packs in the Stampin’ Up!® catalogue and I bought them all. Each pack features eight sheets (two each of four designs) of pop-out shapes.

Here are my honest thoughts on all four Stampin’ Up!® Ephemera Packs:

 

1. Saying Something Ephemera Pack – this has a good variety of sentiments. In some cases you pop out the whole word, while others are printed on labels. I’m going to be honest and say there are loads here that I would never use because they’re too cheesy and I know the majority of my customers will agree. Personally I think you’re better off investing in a good Stampin’ Up!® sentiment stamp set such as the new Simply Said. 

2. Something for Everything Ephemera Pack – this is by far my favourite as it has such a wide variety of images. Cats, dogs, balloons, boats, lighthouses... there really is something for every occasion and I would highly recommend it. 

3. Fully Flowering Ephemera Pack – perfect if you love flowers. You get a wonderful range of coloured and black and white designs. Would highly recommend for quick and easy cardmaking.

4. Labels & Layers Ephemera Pack – this has a really good selection of labels which you can stamp on or use as background layers for other elements. If you like to decorate your projects with labels but don’t have many Stampin’ Up!® punches or dies, then this is perfect for you. I probably wouldn’t buy it again though.

I first delved into the world of the new Stampin’ Up!® Ephemera Packs when I needed a baby shower card in a hurry. I’m new to the world of baby showers so confess I was a bit thrown. 

I used an old pack of Bright & Beautiful Notecards & Envelopes because why waste them? On this cheery background I arranged a selection of images, including a rainbow, butterfly and feather from the Something for Everything Ephemera Pack, a label from Labels & Layers Ephemera Pack and some words from Saying Something Ephemera Pack. 

Delving into the Fully Flowering Ephemera Pack for this little notecard, I began by covering the card from with some Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper, which I am delighted to say is carrying over into the new Stampin’ Up!® catalogue. 

The floral sprig from the Fully Flowering Ephemera Pack was uncoloured so I coloured this with blender pens, picking up ink from my Shy Shamrock, Wild Wheat and Crushed Curry ink pads.

I coloured the butterfly, too, using my Blueberry Bushel ink pad in the same way.

The greeting comes from the Saying Something Ephemera Pack. 

 

The gingham pattern from Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper was the perfect background for this little cowboy notecard. 

 

I used a label from Labels & Layers Ephemera Pack, images from Something for Everything Ephemera Pack and a greeting from Saying Something Ephemera Pack. As it says “Yee haw”, clearly these Stampin’ Up!® Ephemera Packs are designed to work well together. 

 

But you can keep it really simple too. This Stampin’ Up!® notecard is simply decorated with a popped up hot air balloon (Something for Everything Ephemera Pack) and a greeting from the Saying Something Ephemera Pack.

 

You can combine the Ephemera Pack elements with other leftovers, too. For this gift tag, I found a ready-made label in my stash (made with Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper), a leftover die-cut leaf from an earlier project and a label left over from the By Your Side cardmaking kit. I finished it off with a bird, strawberry and heart from my favourite Something for Everything Ephemera Pack. 

I had some leftover animals from the By Your Side cardmaking kit too, so used this cute cat for another notecard. The label beneath the cat is from Labels & Layers Ephemera Pack, and the greeting is from Saying Something Ephemera Pack.
