Would you believe I have never bought an Easter stamp set before? Easter Bunny, which features in the January to April Stampin’ Up!® catalogue is my very first Easter set.
This year I was determined to make some cute little gifts and with Easter just around the corner, I thought I’d better get cracking! (See what I did there?)
With the stamp set decided, the next stage was to work on a the design of the project. For my Spring Craft Day last weekend, I had to buy four packs of In Color™ Treat Bags to get enough Boho Blue ones for the guests. So these were the natural choice for my Easter treats and Wild Wheat is my favourite Stampin’ Up!® In Color™ so that made it easy.
I cut the arch shape and grass using Garden Meadow dies. I did this by die-cutting the grass in Garden Green first, then gluing it to the Wild Wheat cardstock, then running it through with the arch die. It does cut through two pieces, although needed a little help to pop out the shape.
I scored the arch shapes 2.5cm (1") from the top to fold over the top of the bag.
Next stop: rabbits, and I used the Easter Bunny set to stamp out a dozen rabbits using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, from Stampin’ Up!®. It was important to use a water-based ink like this because they are coloured using my Stampin’ Up!® Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. When using alcohol markers you must always use a water-based ink for your outline image, to avoid smudging.
I coloured the Easter Bunny rabbits using light Smoky Slate light and light Calypso Coral. No fancy blending – not when I had 12 to make!
The eggs, also from the Easter Bunny stamp set, are coloured in various shades, as I couldn’t settle. Mostly Granny Apple Green, Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight - all light.
Ah but one has a carrot, which is code for “this one doesn’t contain chocolate bunnies”. This is also from the Easter Bunny stamp set and coloured in Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends.
And one bag has no eggs or carrots, which isn’t code for anything other than it was hiding under a box and I missed it!
Happy Easter – again from the Easter Bunny stamp set – is stamped in black on Petal Pink, which is just about the only Stampin’ Up!® pink I can stomach. Probably because most pink-lovers say its not pink but peach! I die-cut the greeting labels using Stampin’ Up!® Delicate Forest dies, which I’m ashamed to say I hadn’t yet used.
The bags are filled with little chocolate bunnies from Lidl – because they make the best chocolate – and, with the decorated panel folded over the top, sealed with a variety of little clips from my stash.
I hope the recipients enjoy their Easter Bunny treats and that you enjoy my projects. This stamp set is available in the January to April Stampin’ Up!® catalogue so I strongly recommend that you order early in case it goes onto the retiring list.
This seems like a good time to remind you that lots of Stampin’ Up!® items will be retiring soon so please don’t miss out. Among the first items to sell out are usually the retiring In Colors™, which are Starry Sky, Orchid Oasis, Parakeet Party, Sweet Sorbet and Tahitian Tide. We do have some colours which are similar to some of these but there is no substitute for gorgeous Orchid Oasis or Sweet Sorbet so I expect these will be the first to sell out.
