Get ahead with these very easy Stampin’ Up!® Christmas cards!

stampin up quick easy christmas card ideas

What kind of Christmas card maker are you? Do you focus on one Stampin’ Up!® stamp set or bundle and make them all the same?

Do you throw all your Stampin’ Up!® supplies at your cards and make lots of different cards?

Have you started already and have a firm plan? Or do you leave it to the last minute?

If you’re like me, the answer will probably be a combination. I relate to all of the above apart from the first one because I don’t like making cards all the same.

Even though it’s still summer, I have made some cards already... but I know I will still have a last-minute rush to ensure I have enough to send.

Cards and scrapbooking using Dandy Garden Memories & More Cards

Dandy Garden Memories & More Stampin Up

Over the course of the past year I have welcomed some new ladies into our little crafting community who just happen to be scrapbookers. They make cards, of course, but scrapbooking is their first love.

I used to be a keen scrapbooker but fell out of the habit but I am happy to say their enthusiasm is reigniting mine. At last week’s Crafty Friday class on Zoom we were chatting about Memories & More cards. These are packs of 6"x4" and 3"x4" cards and sticker sheets which co-ordinate with some of our most popular Suites. They are designed to go with our Photo Pocket Pages which makes scrapbooking REALLY quick and easy, but as the ‘& More’ part of the name suggests, they can be used for so much more.

With this in mind, one lady asked how they could be used on a 12x12 scrapbook page, while others said they’d love some ideas for using them on cards.

Challenge accepted! Over the weekend I made several projects using Dandy Garden Memories & More Cards. A 12x12 scrapbook page, as promised, and a few simple cards.

I say simple because there are genuinely no fancy techniques here. Other than the cardstock, few bits of ribbon, the ladybirds, the odd image from the Dandy Laser-Cut Paper and one stamp, everything comes from the Dandy Garden Memories & More Cards.

This scrapbook page was my first project and it came together so easily. I followed the principles outlined by Stampin' Up!® CEO Sara Douglass in her Facebook Live a few weeks ago. She simply made all her elements the same width as the Memories & More Cards and her page came together easily.

You can watch Sara’s video here; you don’t need a Facebook account

I used Crumb Cake cardstock as my backing, because it’s a good neutral background – but mainly because that’s what I had (I really must get some more 12x12 cardstock!).

Using a VERY old picture of my daughter (which I have actually scrapbooked before I think!), I found  the purple of her outfit was picked up beautifully by the Blackberry Bliss of the Memories & More Cards. But I found I could introduce strips of cards in other colours as long as I balanced them out. There are so many colours in the Dandy Garden Suite that you’ll find something to go with almost any photo.

I kept the page pretty simple, with some some of the sticker elements, Ladybug Trinkets and a leaf and dragonfly from the
Dandy Laser-Cut Paper as decorative elements. The ‘smile’ is cut out from a Memories & More card and all I can say is I’m glad you get two of everything as I completely messed up my first attempt!

There’s only one element I’m not happy with and that’s the sticker saying “A very special day”. I didn’t want to use it there but had a smudge of glue which pulled up the paper when I tried to remove it. Still, there are no mistakes, so the sticker did the job.

Before popping up the stickers on Dimensionals, make sure you “de-stick” them first. You can do this using the old Embossing Buddy, some talc or cornflour, or simply by pressing them repeatedly onto your clothing to pick up the fluff. This will stop them from sticking down where they aren’t lifted by Dimensionals. Alternatively, you can stick them to a Foam Adhesive sheet and cut them out.

This card is a lovely celebration of dandelions, which are excellent for breeding butterflies. I chose various elements in Mossy Meadow and Bumblebee.

Just as I’d added some Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon, I remembered I was saving it for my Butterfly Bijou Kits, so swapped to Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Thread instead. I quite like the contrast.

For this card, I suddenly remembered I have some Basic White Assorted Memories & More Cards & Envelopes, which are perfect for making quick cards. For super-fast cards, simply stick the Memories & More card on the front and you’re done, as they are sized to be slightly larger.

But I felt that was a bit of a cop-out so made slightly more effort with this one, fussy-cutting the greeting label from one of the Memories & More cards as my focal point and using some co-ordinating Calypso Coral-based cards as my background.

The Basic White Assorted Memories & More Cards & Envelopes come in two sizes, to co-ordinate perfectly with the Memories & More Cards themselves, so there are these cute little cards, too. For this I just used some leftover strips to decorate the card front, finishing off with a sticker label which I stamped using Sweet Strawberry.

Flowers for Every Season Suite ideas – celebrating sunflowers

Flowers for Every Season Stampin' Up Allthingsstampy

This week is all about the Flowers for Every Season Suite and I have some amazing projects to show you, which show off all the gorgeous products within the Suite.

This is a “Super Suite”... well, to be honest, I can’t remember the official Stampin’ Up!® term but what I mean to say is that it’s a BIG one, with two bundles, Designer Series Paper, Memories & More cards and a whole lot more. Check out some of the fabulous projects you can make with it here...

The Celebrate Sunflowers bundle is just fabulous – big showy sunflowers always bring a smile to people’s faces.

This card is made by masking with a torn piece of sticky note so you leave a rough centre panel when you stamp around it. Clever, simple and effective.

Two very different looks here – the card at the front is made using the Sunflowers Dies, while the one at the back is stamped onto Crumb Cake cardstock and coloured with Watercolor Pencils. Some spattering with Frost White Shimmer Paint gives it an extra touch.

This shows how you can mix things up... using the Flowers for Every Season Designer Series Paper with Ornate Thanks and some fancy gold heat embossing. Don’t have the paper? You could use the Flowers for Every Season Memories & More cards instead... or indeed any Designer Series Paper or Memories & More cards. Be creative and adapt!

10 quick cards using Flowers for Every Season Memories & More Cards

Flowers for Every Season Quick Cards allthingsstampy Helen Read Memories & More

Socially distant crafty get-togethers have been a bit of a life-saver during lockdown; it’s so lovely to meet up with other crafters via Zoom to create our projects.

For the past five weeks I have been running a One O’Clock Club on Tuesdays, where we make two quick cards at each session. These quick cards are easy to recreate at home with Stampin’ Up!®’s Flowers for Every Season Memories & More cards.

My first One O’Clock Club series comes to an end this week but I will be starting another round soon using the Whale of a Time Suite – please get in touch ASAP if you’d like to join in. This time the projects will be repeated in a Saturday session, so you can hop in and out of Tuesdays and the Saturday to fit around your other plans.

Check out the projects we made...

We’ve been using the Flowers for Every Season Memories & More cards from Stampin’ Up!®, along with the Flowers for Every Season Memories & More cards and envelopes, with guests using their own greeting stamps and ink pads. Week 1 saw us use Bumblebee and Cinnamon Cider – two great new In Colors™ which work really well together.

One of the great things about these Memories & More Cards – from the Flowers for Every Season Suite – is that they use the new In Colors™, so many of the people who took part in my In Color Shares had their new ink pads to play with.

For this project, we used ‘Feeling’ from the sticker sheet and cut out word strips from one of the Memories & More cards. The flowers and leaves are white stickers which we sponged using yellow and green inks.

It’s no secret that Magenta Madness is my least favourite new In Color™ – I’m just not a pink fan at all. But I have to say I am warming to it, and think it packs a certain punch when used in small doses. No small doses for this project though! It’s a bit more subtle in this one...

It was all about the blues in Week 3, when we focused on Misty Moonlight. The Memories & More card does all the work here, with just a simple greeting stamped onto one of the stickers from the sheet which comes in the pack.

I really love the sunflower pattern on this card. The greeting comes on the sticker sheet and we stuck it to some Misty Moonlight cardstock, then cut freehand around it to create an on-trend border.

The colour combo is simple here: just the Poppy Parade of the Memories & More card, with white and the silver edged card base. The Tasteful Labels dies do a lot of the work here. Don’t have those yet? Trust me, you really need them!

You have have already noticed that once again I broke my personal rule not to use retired products. However, in these unprecedented times (aren’t you just SICK of hearing that?), I thought it would be ok to take advantage of the foil-edged cards and envelopes being heavily discounted at retiring time, so I could keep costs down for the guests. I stocked up big time but have completely run out now!

It’s our last session tomorrow and we’re finishing off with two Just Jade cards. The sunflowers get another outing; they’re fussy-cut from two different Memories & More cards and the big greeting is from Rooted in Nature.

It’s another appearance for the monochromatic look, too – this time in mellow Just Jade with a flower sticker to finish off. The Stitched Nested Labels dies provide layers to house the greeting, from the Tasteful Touches stamp set.

If you’re in the UK you are more than welcome to join my Zoom sessions – because with Zoom, location is no barrier. I’ve had several new ladies join me who can’t normally come to my events due to transport issues.

And if you’re already a demonstrator, I hope this post has inspired you to try your own distance classes and workshops. Every guest received half a pack of Memories & More cards, half a pack of Memories & More cards and envelopes, plus card bases, cardstock, ribbon and embellishments. I did all the die-cutting in advance so the projects were really speedy – just right for a lunch break for those homeworkers out there!

Retiring product: Come Sail Away Memories & More cards

Clearing out my files and found this image which I don’t think I ever shared. It shows off the Come Sail Away Memories & More cards, which I believe are no longer available, but it may just give you an idea for using them up, or for other packs which are still available.

You don't always need stamps to make great cards! Check out your Memories & More cards and get some speedy projects under your belt.

Christmas in May with Memories & More cards

Have I taken leave of my senses? Probably but, if you’re not working, lockdown is a great opportunity to get a head start on Christmas cards. Lockdown can feel a little like Christmas anyway – at least with the staying home and overeating!

Yesterday I held another class via Zoom, making five cards using Memories & More cards from the Clearance Rack. There was no stamping required, although there was the option to add some grunge spatters if desired.

Read product descriptions carefully when shopping online. Just look at the size of that ribbon!

Retiring products: Mini cards with Tropical Oasis Memories & More Cards

It's use-up time! I have lots of products which are retiring soon so I’ve set myself the impossible task of trying to use up any consumables. It can’t happen, of course. Not unless I became a full-time crafter with an unlimited supply of cardstock and adhesive!

But I did make these four little cards the other day, using some retiring Tropical Oasis Memories & More Cards with some small Memories & More Cards and envelopes.

In my desperation to get through the pile, I even used some cards as mats for my image layers! I figured there was no point in using up cardstock which is carrying over! I now have four little cards which I can send to friends or key workers. Or I may even put them in a box on the end of the drive for passing walkers to use. My last box of cards all disappeared in a day!

Memories & More cards are lovely enough just to slap on a card base but you can add interest by sponging, stamping or fussy-cutting flowers from other cards.
