Happy Forest Friends notebook and card Stampin’ Up!® ideas

Happy Forest Friends Stampin Up UK card ideas

Foxes and trees and bears, oh my! Could there be a more suitable Stampin’ Up!® product suite for me than the Happy Forest Friends Suite? It’s also perfect for my friend Donna, who shares my love of woodland creatures and all things arboreal.

I made her this notebook and card using the Happier Than Happy stamp set and Happy Forest Friends Designer Series Paper. For foliage, I used the Forever Flourishing Dies, and I added texture to the background panel of white using the Timber 3D Embossing Folder, all from Stampin’ Up!®.

The projects are a great example of recycling designs. The notebook is based on the Nature’s Harvest card and the Apple Harvest card I showed you a few weeks ago.

I have arranged the Happy Forest Friends Designer Series Paper in a similar way, and grouped my elements in the bottom left section as before.

I stamped the bear in Soft Suede and the fox in Cajun Craze, then fussy-cut them both out because I don’t have the Happy Forest Dies. I also stamped and fussy-cut the own but he didn't make the final cut so has gone back into the stamp case for next time. I have started keeping my excess stamped images in the case as I find I am far more likely to use them that way.

For foliage, I used the the Forever Flourishing Dies but any leaf or tree dies would work well here; I just used what I had.

I’ve laid all these elements onto a panel of Basic White cardstock which I have embossed using the Timber 3D Embossing Folder, matted onto Cajun Craze.

To personalise the notebook I die-cut the letters from Mossy Meadow cardstock. I must confess here that I have used a retired set of dies, Playful Alphabet. I hardly ever keep retired Stampin’ Up!® items because I don’t like to show people products they can no longer buy but these dies are just too useful to give up.

To make the letters stick on neatly, I first attached the cardstock to a Foam Adhesive Sheet, then die-cut as normal. This gives you a perfectly formed foam backing to each letter and you can see this technique in action here:

The card follows a similar design, without the angled Designer Series Paper and with the addition of some Linen Thread which I forgot to add on the notebook!

As this is a belated birthday card I stamped ‘Wishing you the very best’ from the Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set. I cut the sentiment in half and popped up both pieces on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I said this was a great example of recycling designs and mentioned earlier cards which inspired these projects. Well I’ve made the notebook before too. Only last week I made this notebook to welcome a new member to my team. It’s very similar but I’m sure you will spot some differences – including the fact that I remembered the Linen Thread that time!
