Pop of Paradise note cards

I have just launched a new Virtual Hostess Club – where 10 members commit to spending £15 per month for 10 months, taking it in turns to be the host and claim the Stampin’ Rewards. I appreciate that this is a big commitment from my customers so, to thank them, this year I decided to hold a Welcome Party. It helps that I now have a kitchen/dining room big enough to do this for 10 people, although in the end only five of them could make it.

I wanted to set a task that was simple enough not to take too long and would use all of the new In Colors. I decided on a set of note cards and, after going through the catalogue over and over again, eventually settled on the glorious new set, Pop of Paradise. This was on the pre-order for demonstrators but I didn’t buy it at the time. Yes, I confessed already that the pre-order selection didn’t float my boat, but what can I say? U-turns are what I do, so I ordered this at the beginning of June and now it’s one of my favourite sets! The pineapple looks fab - and so on trend - when embossed in copper and I can’t wait to get chance to play with that flamingo stamp.

I’ve been on a bit of a mini flamingo spending spree lately – I now have a fine set of flamingo drinking glasses, a small metal suitcase to carry my spare clear blocks, and some flamingo napkins for my next Pop of Paradise event... all from the hugely addictive Tiger in Derby. Trust me, I was holding back!

Back to the Welcome Party. Fortunately, despite the very limited time between the order arriving and the event, my friend Kelly was on hand to create some extra bits for the Welcome Party; some samples (not shown), some little gift boxes (above) for the ladies who couldn’t make it... and Kelly’s daughter created some fab cake toppers, too (below). The cakes were a real collaborative effort: I baked the cakes, my daughter iced them and Kelly’s daughter made the toppers. Hope it wasn’t a case of too many cooks!

Anyway, it turns out my new club members are really speedy - and organised - stampers and they had made their five note cards in next to no time at all. But that was ok because we spent the rest of the afternoon eating cake and chatting about stamping. Result!
