Sale-a-Bration envelope card

We spend a very enjoyable morning on Crafty Friday. This has evolved into a very relaxed “semi-freestyle” session. Depending on who is there, I tend to plan one project, then print out a few ideas from Pinterest for a second project, so that the ladies can choose what we make next.

This was the planned project, although when I say “planned”, I mean I had the idea for the basic design but we made the rest up as we went along. It seems to work!

I love this card idea, which involves making your envelope and card all as one piece. It would make a great gift card holder, wedding invitation and more. The card sits flat, stuck down,  inside the envelope – although watch this space for a variation on the theme.

You start by making any sized envelope using your Envelope Punch Board (if you don’t have this yet, why not?). We went for a 3”x3” so we could get them all from one sheet of paper (there were four of us). Everyone LOVED the paper – it’s free during Sale-a-Bration, so you only have until 31st March to get your pack!

Next you cut cardstock to fit just inside (in this case 2 3/4” x 2 3/4”), stamp it, layer it, do what you wish – just don’t make it too bulky.

Finally, we made a “belly band” to go around the envelope, covering the join with an embellishment. At my class yesterday (yes, another one!), I had lots of questions about the little flower on top. This was made with the small Scallop Circle Punch. I punched out three scalloped circles, then snipped them with scissors, towards the centre. I stuck a button on top of a circle of black cardstock in the centre (use GlueDots for this) and then scrunched it all up. It’s surprisingly effective.

I finished off with a Chalk Marker, dotting randomly. This wasn’t intentional, by the way, but you know the saying… there are no mistakes…

Stamps: Petal Parade (SAB), Sweet Essentials
Cardstock: Summer Starfruit, Whisper White, Crisp Cantaloupe, Basic Black
Paper: Sweet Sorbet (SAB)
Ink: Crisp Cantaloupe, Pool Party, Sahara Sand, Basic Black

Accessories: 1 3/4” scallop circle punch, large scallop circle punch, small scallop circle punch, 1/2” circle punch, Vintage faceted buttons, Chalk Marker.
