So, after making the envelope card, I realised the flaw in the plan. There’s nowhere to write in it!
If you have nice handwriting, you could add your message on the centre panel, but years of shorthand and even more years at a keyboard mean that my handwriting is pretty ugly, so I didn’t want to “spoil” the card.
This is my “genius” solution… which I soon realised is northing more than a card stuck in an envelope. Doh! Still, I quite like the concept.
Start by making any sized envelope, it really doesn’t matter. I used a sheet of 6”x6” DSP and worked back from there. Round all the corners so it looks pretty.
Next make a card to fit inside. Your envelope board will tell you what size this needs to be… or you can just measure the centre panel of your envelope. Adhere the card fully in the centre panel of the envelope and you’re almost there. All you need now is a way of keeping it closed - and for this I used a belly band with another one of those cool paper bows.
This paper is from the Sweet Sorbet pack of DSP which you can earn free during Sale-a-Bration. It’s gorgeous paper but I have to confess that this particular pattern doesn’t float my boat. However, my stamping friends were horrified when I admitted this, so I have been trying to use it… and can feel a little bit of a U-turn coming along. Yes, it’s a bit much when you look at a full sheet, but I’m beginning to like it when combined with other patterns.
I made a batch of these to give to my team members who helped me at our quarterly meeting at the weekend. Tricia kindly demoed this very bow, along with some others using punches; Sue provided a fantastic Make & Take, and Jane made some delicious cakes.
