Mix It Up Monday: Picture Perfect with Timeless Textures

It’s Mix It Up Monday and time for another colour combination from my In Color charts.

Introducing the five-minute card… because I was packing away my craft supplies when I remembered that I didn’t have a Mix It Up Monday project for today.

I’m running out of colour combinations as I tick them off my charts and this is the last Mint Macaron combo; I’ve also completed Tip Top Taupe. Just one left to complete on Cucumber Crush and Delightful Dijon; and two Watermelon Wonder combos to take on then I’m done! And in the nick of time, too, as we’ll be getting a new set of colours at the beginning of June.

Anyway, back to this project. I wasn’t too excited about the colour combination but now I really like it; it looks soft and vintage-y to me, and I think it goes well with the rose in Picture Perfect, my latest stamp set.  The flower is created in three steps, as are the leaves. I stamped the leaves simply with Mint Macaron, stamping off* twice for the background, once for the middle layer and not at all for the detailed stamp.

For the petals, I stamped with So Saffron, then Watermelon Wonder (stamped off) and finally Watermelon Wonder without stamping off.

The background of the Very Vanilla layer was fun to create with Timeless Texture. I stamped all round the edge in So Saffron, repeat stamping in the bottom left corner to intensify the distressed effect. I added some grid lines with Mint Macaron (stamped off) and the splatters are Watermelon Wonder, also stamped off. In an ideal world I’d have made the card base from So Saffron cardstock but I don’t have ANY; I don’t know why, as it used to be one of my favourite colours!

*Stamping off means to stamp on scrap paper to remove some of the ink and create a paler image.

Sneak Peek: Botanical Blooms bundle from the new Spring/Summer catalogue

It’s Mix It Up Monday again and time for another colour combination from my In Color charts.

And today I have a Sneak Peek for you from the upcoming Spring/Summer catalogue and, drum roll please… Sale-a-Bration!

When I first saw the Spring/Summer catalogue, I diligently made my wish list on a spreadsheet and began working out class ideas. The Botanical Blooms didn’t even feature on the “might get” list.

But then, as is so often the case, I changed my mind. I kept being drawn back to these wonderful tropical flowers and, in the end, I caved in. It’s so easy, see? Buy the Botanical Blooms bundle of stamps, dies and Designer Series Papers… and get a co-ordinating stamp set free. So that’s what I did: because Sale-a-Bration starts early for demonstrators to give us time to prep samples to tempt you.

If you can’t wait until 5th January for Sale-a-Bration and the new Spring/Summer catalogue to begin, you could always join my team and start the party early. Get in touch if you have questions or, if you’re the decisive type, just click here to get ordering.

Catalogues will be winging their way to my hostesses shortly… as soon as I’ve written (made) their Christmas cards. If you’d like a catalogue, too, just shout up please!

I can’t give you product images as they’re too new but I used the following on this project:
  • Botanical Blooms Bundle
  • Botanicals For You stamp set (SAB)
  • Pool Party cardstock
  • Island Indigo cardstock
  • Early Espresso cardstock
  • Delighful Dijon cardstock
  • Very Vanilla cardstock

  • Delightful Dijon ink pad
  • Early Espresso ink pad
  • Sponge Daubers
  • In Color Markers, 2015-2017

Springtime Hello tag

Well, it’s raining again but we can’t really complain in Derbyshire. I hope everyone reading who lives in a flood-risk area is staying safe. Although, I suppose if you’ve been flooded, the last thing you’ll be doing is blog-hopping...

Have you seen the new Spring/Summer catalogue yet? It’s very lovely and packed with wonderful new products for lots of different styles of crafter.

As well as the funky, funny and bang-on-trend speech bubbles, there’s this far more traditional stamp set, which I love just as much. Little flowers and a bee, all suitable for colouring in (but not too difficult) are about as far from those cheeky speech bubbles as you can get. See what I mean about there being something to suit different styles?

I made this cute little tag at a crafting day with some friends. I had limited supplies with me, which really focuses the mind! To create the tag, I simply cut a triangle off a corner of cardstock, flipped the triangle over and used it as a guide to snip off the opposite corner. The image is coloured with markers - if I remember correctly, it’s Crisp Cantaloupe and Wild Wasabi but I could be wrong.

Don’t forget, if you spend £45 on any products – from the Spring/Summer and annual catalogues, as well as on My Digital Studio downloads – you will qualify for a FREE Sale-a-Bration item. In the SAB brochure, we have stamps, DSP, accessories, MDS downloads and more. Click the banner at the top of the page, or here, for more details.
