Masculine card with Life in the Forest

Rather conveniently, my Canadian cousin’s birthday is just a few days after her husband’s, so I can send them in the same envelope and save a little on postage.

Masculine cards often present a problem to stampers, but I don’t worry about them too much. I think, as long as you steer clear of the flowers, glitter and ribbons, you’re fine.

I wanted to use Life in the Forest as I’ve only recently ordered it, but was stumped when it came to colouring it with my new Blendabilities. I have the Skin Tones collection but the brown was just too dark. Eventually I settled on one of the skin tones - it’s near enough. At some point I’ll get the Crumb Cake and Pumpkin Pie markers, which will make things easier!

Eagle-eyed surfers will probably notice that some of the cardstock on this card is textured; I was simply using up some old supplies.

If you buy nothing else from this card, get the Hardwood stamp - it’s so versatile and very lovely!

Scallop Tag Topper punch - smile card

The scallop tag topper punch is so versatile – here I’ve used it to create a ribbon slider tag for a very simple card. I’ve used the clean bright colours of the Fresh Prints DSP stack and added a couple of wooden elements for good measure.

Simple smile

I made this really simple card last night. It didn’t go quite as I’d planned but, as they say, once it’s stuck, you’re out of luck! It uses some of my favourite products… the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set, the Fresh Prints DSP stack and those cute little wooden elements. And I love this colour combo, too - it’s Soft Sky and Real Red. It’s a combination which works well for many occasions, including Christmas!

Just Sayin' with wooden elements

Have you ordered these little Wooden Elements yet? You might want to consider adding them to your order as they’re very cute and fun. You get hearts, arrows, chevrons, speech bubbles, triangles, circles, banners and starbursts, four of each. I love them as they are so have just used them plain so far but you could ink them, cover them in paper, stamp on them… go wild!

And I’m still in love with the Just Sayin’ bundle, which I’ve used here with Retro Fresh washi tape (LOVE washi tape!).

I earned all of these new items FREE as part of a demonstrator rewards programme which runs at various points in the year. Stampin’ Up!® is a very generous company and is always keen to keep its demonstrators happy! If you’d like to be a happy demonstrator, running a business – big or small – doing something you love, please get in touch to find out more about the fabulous Sale-a-Bration offer which runs until the end of March. It costs just £99 to join this fabulous company, and you’ll get everything you need to get started in your business, including £150 of craft products and a business pack... not to mention that you will be part of a team of lovely, supportive people!

Gorgeous Grunge with Retro Fresh

This card is inspired - well, CASEd in fact - from a Convention swap I received from the very talented Kim Fee. Her card (below) was one of my favourite swaps, so we decided to CASE it at a recent Crafty Friday.

I was running short of Epic Day washi tape, however, so used the opportunity to make something with my brand new Spring/Summer catalogue products. I swapped the washi for Retro Fresh and adjusted the colours accordingly. Instead of the small scalloped circle, I used one of the fabulous wooden elements and, because I don’t actually own that little star punch (just borrow it a lot), I used the small heart instead. The glimmer paper is sprayed with Early Espresso and Coastal Cabana inks (long story) to make it a lovely platinum. I used this purely because I couldn’t find any other, although I think Champagne Glimmer would probably look the best with this colour scheme.

Stamps: Gorgeous Grunge, Sweet Essentials
Cardstock: Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Very Vanilla, Tangerine Tango
Ink: Baked Brown Sugar, Tangerine Tango
Accessories: Retro Fresh Washi Tape, Linen Thread, Essentials Wooden Elements, 3/4” circle punch, small heart punch, Silver Glimmer paper, Basic Rhinestones
