Flowering Desert week: A colourful start

Okay, let’s have a Flowering Desert week with a post every weekday to celebrate this much-neglected stamp set from the Spring/Summer catalogue.

When I first saw this set, I loved it... but I knew it wouldn’t be a big seller as I do tend to favour the slightly off-the-wall stamp sets. So if you’ve rejected this set out of hand, this week I am going to attempt to change your mind by sharing the cactus love.

I found the idea of sponging a sun from US demonstrator Mary Fish, and this colourful combo uses some of my favourite bright colours and In Colors... what could be cheerier?

  1. Super design! Looks just like my old front yard from when I lived in New Mexico. Thanks for the encouragement for this sidestepped set. I got it last month but couldn't seem to get started with it. Now I'm ready to play. Looking forward to seeing what else you do with it.

    1. Thank you! Can't imagine having cacti in my front garden - it's very exotic to us in the UK. This set does risk being overlooked so let's get it out there and share the love for it.

  2. Love your comments on the possibility of this stamp being over looked.
I live in Arizona and it was one of the first stamps I ordered since we don't often have stamps that have cactus. By the way, Mary Fish and I live in the same city and she is my up-line

    1. Maybe the set will get more attention when SAB is over - although the general stamping population do tend to gravitate towards flowers. I've always loved Mary Fish's projects - so clean, simple and classy. How great that she's your upline!
